For those debating where to fish this weekend, I just wanted to throw a little shout toward the Willamette. I was out today after a long break and the water was still a little slate green, but improving. Loving this two-rod stuff! It really keeps me occupied and focussed on what I'm doing. Didn't see any action from the boats today, but my starboard rod took a thrashing from this 33" brawler. It took a red label dyed blue in 16fow.

I always keep my fish in a bag with ice after I'm done bleeding it. Wouldn't want a sea lion altercation, nor would I want the drag. Once the water gets into the 50's, the meat will keep a lot better on ice than in the water. You work too hard for these fish not to take excellent care of them.
It took me a long time to start buying ice before every springer trip, but the fish-gods seem to reward preparedness.
