Brewster Pool Sockeye (video)

I was really looking forward to beating up some upper Columbia summer Kings upon returning from ICAST but alas the numbers weren't there for much of a season. Fortunately the Sockeye decided to show up in much larger numbers than forecast so I've been taking advantage of this fishery in my backyard.

This is such a great video for so many reasons, thanks Tyler & Sidra. Sockeye fishing looks like a positive experience for the wife/family, including sleeping in & a nice breakfast and lunch before getting on the water. I like how you don’t even have to reel up or stop trolling.
That combat driving/fishing serves as a reminder that we can’t rely on the PBS to be aware of kayakers, other boats, or general safety. Great job giving signals & prompting the conversation on the water.
What’s your favorite method of preparing your sockeye?

Great video! How long does this fishery last? I might just have to try it.

Should keep going thru August as long as we don't hit the allocation for the sport angling fleet.

What’s your favorite method of preparing your sockeye?

For Sockeye we keep it simple. Bake with a sparring amount of dill or basil on top. Its a very firm and texture rich meat compared to King Salmon.

Loved the video!  I will need to do some research to find some options closer to me.  Is sockeye fishing typically that active or was this just a great day?
