The Triak has some very nice features but it costs the same as a TI and way more than an AI. I love the jib and light weight. I do believe the Triak will paddle easier and will point way better into the wind than my TI, but the dual Mirage Drives make the TI a pretty reliable ride in any conditions. Not sure why they feel the Triak will do much better in surf but I'm not experienced there. Probably due to it's paddling ease.

The AI and TI will clearly support fishing much better and with the Tramps will carry lots more stuff and kids/pets. They don't rate the capacity of the Triak but the TI is 600 lb and AI is 350.

I built my TI trailer for $400 (not $2K) and it costs about $50/year for insurance and registration. I believe the gas mileage improvement in towing vs. car topping will more than cover the costs.

For solo sailing only the Triak is a sweet looking but very pricey craft, I believe the Hobies are more versatile and a better value.

I agree with you on every point Ihop - but I gotta say I would love to sail that Triak on a nice day. It just looks so sweet - and definitely has to be better in light air. That is why the Ginger / Mary Anne comment - Mary Anne is who you want to take home for the long run, but wouldn't it be fun once to see if Ginger is as hot as she acts?

I'm pre-Gilligan, more like the Maynard G. Krebs era. Who could forget Thalia (Tuesday Weld).

Looking forward to seeing you and Mary Ann on the water! Are you planning to come down to Whiskey Gulch this weekend?
