Wow! I can't remember this ever happening before. The sad thing is that they waited till what is essentially the end of the season to issue the closure. I missed out on the run. I'll survive. We need to protect the resource.

Yes, all saltwater within one mile of the beach from Bluff Point to the Ninilchik River is closed to fishing for king salmon. Not even catch and release. But all other species are still allowed to be fished for like halibut, Irish lords, Dolly varden and sharks. And further up towards Deep Creek where the sockeye start moving along the beaches you could fish for reds. I'm thinking if a mini hootchie works on kokanee in a lake why won't it work trolling for reds along the beach.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
