Rats. That forecast is looking worse for Homer/Deep Creek on Saturday. I'm going to watch the Alaska Weather program on Ch.7 tonight just to make sure. But it doesn't look like the long drive makes much sense for this weekend.

I'm very keen to launch though, and the forecasts for Passage Canal and Resurrection Bay continue to look favorable.  Unless those go bad too, one or the other will be my destination for an inaugural trip in the Revo. I need to spend some time on the water, figuring out what works in my set up and what doesn't.

Highly recommend getting on the water like anyone needs motivation. Day 2 was SO much easier than day 1.

If you go to Whittier, even though I like to see boat traffic, unless Smitty Cove parking lot is cleared, parking will be at a premium with the shrimp season opening on Sunday. I don't think the big gravel parking lot has been cleared yet   Might not hurt to call down to the harbor master to check the situation.

Man I really want to get out. Weather just looks like junk, everywhere. Rain in seward predicted on saturday. I might get down to kenai lake still. Im almost tempted to take mon-tues off cause the weather supposed to clear up then.

Ill keep an eye on the webcams though too, just incase the weather isn't as bad as the forecast is calling for. I wish there were some good ones though, the two I know about are pretty far from the water.

As much as I want to fish, I think I'm going to take the wife out in the Folbot (We have a Greenland II) for a pleasure cruise out of Whittier or Seward. I may manage to troll something while we paddle.....   Just might catch something on accident.    ;D

I talked to the Whittier harbor master, who said their parking is abysmal and not scheduled to be cleared until next week. She wasn't sure whether the big lot at the head of the canal (by the airstrip) was accessible at all. Someone's going to check on that for me tomorrow. Seward seems most likely for me Saturday -- the earlier the better. I'll find out about conditions at Lowell Point, and update here when I know something.

Scratch Whittier from the list -- the road by the tunnel, at the head of the bay, hasn't been cleared yet.  So it's Seward for me tomorrow, unless the forecast changes wildly with the 4 pm update. Right now it's northerly winds forecast at 10 kt in the morning, increasing to 15 in the pm.  Seas at 3 ft.

I'm thinking I'll put in at Lowell Point, head down toward Tonsina and prospect for some Dollies at the mouth. Troll a little on the way out and back.  Keep my eyes open for a couple in a tandem Folbot.  :)

Rimfirematt, have you ruled it out?  Message me if you want to tag along.

Ok Gents, here's the plan.  Matt and I are going to rendezvous at the bakery across from the harbor master's in Seward @ 10, and then head to either Lowell Point or Fourth of July Creek from there...  More a shakedown cruise than a fishing trip, but there will be trolling, and jigging, and mooching...  I suspect Matt will have successes to report.

Anybody wants to join in, of course we'd love to supplement our numbers...
Reports to follow! Maybe even pics if there's anything to show.

Unless something unfortunate happens we'll be heading to Seward too, but probably later, arriving 1pm ish. The Folbot is yellow. AKFishergal: What will you be using for the Dollies?

So where are you from?  Romania, Colombia, Swaziland, Venezuela, or Ecuador?

Romania could work. Although, it's no longer a third world country. :)
