Went target for rockfish and lingcod. Bite was hot until the sun broke the fog. Limited including a wolf eel, a cabby, plus a lingcod. Met a few other kayakers, it was a great day for me.

My buddy lost an even bigger wolf at the boat off Fogarty yesterday.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I hear it's great. Makes sense tho, I think they probably feed heavily on lobster, crab n other crustaceans

Nice wolf eel! Those are good eats for sure! Yeah, they get really snappy - I would not want to get bitten by one. The one time we got one my wife hooked it and was having none of it so I gaffed it and yeeted it into my boat and then it went apesh!+ trying to bite my feet and legs. It was good times. We pulled two big, long fillets off it and breaded and fried it just like lingcod and it was fantastic. Very different texture but delicious.

Last time I had a wolf eel was 10 years ago on a party boat out of LA, those are good eating and I never got another one until last Saturday. It bit me hard, didn't puncture the dry suit, but broke skin and drew blood, I have a video here (language warning):

Cool catch.  Note to self...don't pull a wolf eel into the yak where it can bite me lol.
