there was a free upgrade when they switched from V1 to V2 masts on the 180.  I think technically the free campaign is over, but you may have luck if you talk to your dealer, tell them the story and they have pity on you.   I blew up a 180 drive just out of warranty and they replaced the spline for me anyways.  I think they know deep down there is an issue with the design and they are lenient with replacement/repair.

Price wise, parts are mostly going to be the same if its from a legit dealer because of hobie's pricing rules

Had my drives spline replaced under warranty like seven times. Mostly for shearing the teeth off.
