So the day is picked and it will be Saturday June 10th with a 8:33 low tide so we will have an early am launch 0600 with weigh in at 1500, potluck and awards to commence at 16:30. Mark your calendars and anyone interested in helping out speak up, or pm me. I would like to get the request letters for donations out ASAP. More to come and suggestions always welcome. The beneficiary for this event will be...The new HOW NOC chapter . Hope to get the raffle handled as smooth as this year and we will be rolling with the after party early again so those not staying aren't driving home at midnight.
Registration should stay at $30 this year. We will be having captains bags again this year for the (non mandatory) captains meeting Friday evening around 1900 in the old pool house in the center of the park there will be banners for HOW up.

Let's start the sponsors list with :
ProCure, Phil's said they are in.
Kayak Shed, John said they are in.
Sent in requests for Jackson kayaks today. I will update when I hear back.
I'll be checking with Next Adventure likely after the new year but I'm almost 100% positive there in.
Anyone else wanting to help out in wrangling sponsors for this year let me know.
-
In !
-
I can donate a chainsaw carving again this year. Have no clue if I will be able to fish....... But I can always volunteer for something. So ..............I'm in too.
-
I'm in. Just let me know what you need help with.
-
I'm in, I'll help out however I can.
-
Shot out a few emails for sponsors today and I'm going to get to editing the request letter and get my third party H.O.W. paper work in so we get the donations rolling. Anyone wanting to help out with walking in or emailing request in shoot me a pm or text/email if you got my contact info already. Also ask if one of our moderators can put all the pertinent threads in one spot this year cuz one of our southern brothers is peeking around and planning on attending, just be easier if it's all in one spot. I'll keep y'all posted as we move forward I'm just not going to be as proficient and fast as last year as I'm also Coordinator for the H.O.W. N.O.C Chapter so gotta spread the help a little this year, I'll touch bases with the guys that already said they would help.
-
Bump so we got the rules and times.

Will there be a captain's meeting on Friday evening?
Second paragraph no mandatory 1900 old pool house.
-
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but how do we register/pay? I think we'll be able to make it this year.
I'm mostly signing up so that I can attach a drift anchor to Nobaddays' kayak while he's not looking and make him miss the weigh-in ;D

Well, in a couple more years, I think I will be ready to start tiling my patio with these...
But in all seriousness, congrats again to Jeff, who scored the only kayak springer, and one of the very, very few salmon caught in T-Bay today. That would be an extra special fish for anyone. Way to make us proud!

I woulda placed higher if it weren't for that stupic "take them off the stringer before weighing" rule. Now Barb is gonna bring up those lousy 0.06# every time I see her, until next year. Dang.

That was a lot of fun! It was really fun exploring Tillamook bay for the first time while dragging my little brother around, but what was really great was hanging out with all these bad asses after the tournament! So many cool fun people! I learned a lot on and off the water. Thanks for putting on such a fun event, Mojo Jojo! Can't wait to do it again!

Thanks to Mojo and everyone else who put in time to pull off the event and to everyone who showed up anyway despite the forecast thunderstorms (which turned out to be the most beautiful part of the day). It was fun meeting everyone and talking shop about fishing. It was really cool seeing how everyone else was set up for yak fishing, too. Lots of good ideas out there.

YippieKayak! Dang it! I was really hoping to put a face to the name! I meant to figure out who you were and say hello! Maybe we talked and I just didn't know that you were YippieKayak!

It was the guy grinning ear to ear does this help? After he cleaned up he was in the black dry fit shirt with all the muscles trying to split the seams.

Art part of that party was in your honor my friend, your brisket was absolutely fabulous and when your planning to come this way it's ok to stay here for a week or so (they hired a new electrician) we'll have to get another brisket and throw a big ass Fish-N-Chill in your honor. Might even get a bigger turn out if the timings right for PC fishing :o

Mojo, we had a great time this weekend. From the camping out Friday night with Sam and Mark to the fishing Sat. Brandon is still talking about how much fun he had and how he out-fished his dad. Geez, I'll hear about this for a while now. Thanks again for all your hard work to put this event on. We can't wait till next year!
It was good to talk to a lot of you that I hadn't met before (at least in person).
To everyone that brought food for the pot luck, thank you, it was all delicious.

Time to upgrade my cooler to something more size appropriate. :)

Bending them in a little cooler makes for difficult filleting.

For those that asked, this is what I was using.

Congrats to all those who placed! Looks like a great time. I kick myself for not signing up for this one. Congrats on that springer Yippie!
-
Nice job Shannon! Looks like this event just keeps getting better. And congrats on the T-Bay Springer YippieK!

Ray -- you should be glad that I forgot to weigh in the orange label herring I caught.
AND, I threw back some monsters like this
Thanks Shannon for a great event. Outstanding donation to HOW and a great time chatting with real people.

Man what an awesome event! However, after getting up at 4 on game day, 5:30 today, fishing, driving home today, cleaning everything up, and processing seafood tonight, I'm beat! But I promised Mojo some pictures of the awards. More photos from the event coming soon.

Hey Mojo, thanks for all the effort you put into these. I was not able to attend this year, but I know they are a lot of work and appreciate you making it happen!
-
Awesome work Shannon! I wish I could've made it. Instead I was in Tahoe where it SNOWED in June. Glad to see the good turnout and tons of money raised for HOW.

Another great job Mr. Anderson. Great prizes for all the winners , great time for all the folks that didn't win. And we all appreciate all the posters that brought the rest of us along. So... a huge THANK-YOU .
This is the 1st TBKD that I have not attended , including the first get together in 2014 where we only had 8 guys there. It is awesome to see this event grow and benefit others now and in such a great way. That means there has been a lot of ground work behind the scene done , for the most part by one person. And he has done a stand up job. Thank-you MoJo Jojo.
I'm hoping my health will allow me to attend again in future years. I have always had a good time in Tillymook. It would be fun to bring Seahorse (my wife Lori) too. Unfortunately , she took a tumble on the 4th and broke her hip. It's all repaired and just needs time to heal now. And it will heal. She's pretty stubborn and determined to get past this set-back.
Sorry to get off topic.
Great tournament Shannon. Love the belt buckle for a top prize. this will only get better as more folks join our passion and learn that fishing Tillamook Bay is a blast.

And... finally edited the salmon video...

Too many salmon to count - my share included - are lost at the net. Great job with that and nice video!

That's the kind of expert cinematography one usually associates with "Hollywood".

Awesome job! I thought that fish was going to back out of the net. That was a close one.

Love the video!! The chest camera POV always gets my blood racing in a situation like that since I know what you're going through in trying to net the fish and secure it!! Nice work!
-
Thanks ya'll! I figured getting it in the net is the part worth watching. I've got 10 minutes plus of post net video where I'm trying to figure out what to do with all the crap of the deck of the yak. Bonk stick on the same leash as lip grips, lip grips under salmon, rod under salmon, hooks in salmon, etc. Round two would have been much smoother, and I'd have pulled the net on the left side where it was leashed instead of running out of leash with it pulled on the right.. derp!
-
Ya did good Yippie,
Thought for sure that salmon was gonna get away from you. Indeed---lost at the net --- is the lament of too many salmon fishermen. Hell.....you were lucky it didn't go all haywire in your lap. It did not look to be all that secure there either. More than one salmon has jumped ship right out of a guy's lap.
A suggestion from one who has been there------ as soon as you have a salmon in your kayak, get 'em on a game clip and "secure that fish". Then worry about hooks and nets and other shit. But please----secure that fish first.
Nice salmon and great win. I love that belt buckle. ::) ::) ::)
-
Am I the only one not welling up with sympathy for YK's tale of woe about all the troubles and strife in landing his salmon ?
-
The buckles bad ass! I'd go pick up a pair of wranglers and a long sleeve button up to go with it and walk around the next event with my shirt tucked in, my thumbs hooked on it and my hips pushed forward, all like sup bi%{*'s!
Seriously, I would, and I totally think you should. [emoji16]
