I'll be signing my son Zach up for AOTY this year, he's 15. I noticed there are not many entry's for the youth division.
That's awesome! Maybe we can get some of them out fishing together.I'll be signing my son Zach up for AOTY this year, he's 15. I noticed there are not many entry's for the youth division.
As far as the youth division, I know some friends kids that will be signing up soon that will give him a good run for the money. It would be nice to see more youth involved.
I'd be down to take my grandson, hopefully seeing other kids kayak fish will help him loose his fear of being on the kayak solo. That's awesome! That would be great! Teenagers can be really capable paddlers! My buddy Skip ate it pretty hard in the surf and was separated from his kayak. It was Zach who was near him and pedaled over to rescue him out of the surf. Skip held onto the back of Zachs kayak while Zach brought Skip and his full waders to shore. Although I was really proud of the boy I'd like for him to get his own butt out of the surf. Tough to chew him out for doing the right thing.I'd be down to take my grandson, hopefully seeing other kids kayak fish will help him loose his fear of being on the kayak solo. That's awesome! A little off topic, but the point is there is no reason they shouldn't put the cellphones down and catch some fish! Chances are they are more athletic than most of us.

I'll be signing my son Zach up for AOTY this year, he's 15. I noticed there are not many entry's for the youth division. This is probably a silly question, but is it safe to assume he can complete with the rest of us? Based on some of the fish he's caught in past years he has a good chance at doing really well, especially in the rockfish challenge.
That makes good since. Thanks for the response.I'll be signing my son Zach up for AOTY this year, he's 15. I noticed there are not many entry's for the youth division. bSteves and I talked about this last year and what we came up with was this: If you have to have an adult license, then you're in the Main Event. If you don't have to have an adult license then you're in the Youth division. I can say that if a Youth division participant would benefit from their placing in the Main Event I would let them choose their prize (between the two).
*EDIT* If you have to have an adult license in your state of residence then you're in the Main Event.
I'll run it by the committee but I don't see any reason why those can't register under "largemouth".

Thanks! I would venture to guess most of us wouldn't be able to differentiate between the two without looking twice. Figured I would ask since it sounds like Cottage grove (OKBF) has a decent population of Spots from what I've read.
For sure it does. Growing up fishing Lake Oroville and Shasta I have learned to identify them pretty well, but figured I would ask on the off chance I manage to catch one in permitted waters.I'll run it by the committee but I don't see any reason why those can't register under "largemouth".

It gets even harder with spot/smallie hybrids. >:D

It is. You have to be able to keep it for the fish to count in AOTY.Alright thanks, might do that to get my 3rd salmon species
Head over to the WA side of the Columbia if you want some Chum AOTY points.
I'm having trouble uploading my catch. Is there a max file size limit for the photographs? There is, I unfortunately don't know what it is though. You might try reducing the size and trying again.
Thanks

Mine was 1.7 MBs. I'm sure someone more technical will jump in, but you might try logging out and back in and/or clearing your cookies.Strange, I just tried it and worked for me. How big are your files?I'm having trouble uploading my catch. Is there a max file size limit for the photographs?

Tried all that with different browsers. Still not working for me.
Has there ever been any talk about adding brown trout to the list of fish for AOTY? How come its not, but most others are? Brown trout are fun!

Brown trout are fun!Brown's are excluded primarily because of their absence from Alaska water. On the other hand Brookies would be a welcome addition as they are found across the entire region.
Hey Casey, I just approved your chum. 18 points now, eh? Challenge accepted! ;D

The largest rainbow I've ever caught was last year's 16" I think. I may have gotten a 16.5". I tried broodstock stockers and everything. They don't like me!

If you come fish Rufus you should be able to break that curse.

Looks like some possible/probable contention for the top slots still. Who is still fishing??Looks like Jed is keeping busy :)
Am trying to upload some older catches from when the site was down, am getting the "We're sorry, but something went wrong" page.I'm not sure what the limit is but I do know there are some files that are over 300 kbs. Maybe try it in another browser?
On the chance my photos are too large (they're 220-330KB already scaled down from several MBs) what is the limit on file size for uploads?
Looks like we have a new leader. Very impressive Snopro, especially not having any ocean species in your ten.
Everyone better get out fishing for the final push before the end of the year.

Thanks for the tip. I had been trying to submit a fish all weekend and kept getting that response. I reduced the file size of the photos and it worked fine.
How small did y'all compress the pics? I tried under 1k and it was still faulting.
Congratulations to all of the 2017 AOTY participants and especially to Snopro, that was an awesome finish. I got a chance to fish with a bunch of great people for the first time last year and look forward to meeting more of you in 2018. Good luck everybody. Thanks Jed. I hope to make it out for BCSIII and meet you in person.
