I checked out the symposium for a couple hours this morning.  In the short time I was there I met at least 3 kayak fishermen and a couple others who are highly interested in checking it out.  Hopefully they'll check in here.  I stopped by a few of the shops as well.  My impression is that there is a quiet buzz going on.  We all want to figure out how to promote this sport.  I must say I'm quite pleased with the reception NWKA is getting.

I also came across an interesting new design.  It called the NuCanoe ... http://www.nucanoe.com/.  I'm not sure what to make of it yet.  It's quite wide.  And is more like a canoe.  No scupper holes either.  I didn't get a chance to give one a test drive as I was short on time.  What do you all think?  I think it might have it's place, but I don't see it doing surf launches anytime soon.  I asked them about rowboat type paddling as it seemed more natural for a boat like this, and they said they're working on a fixture to enable that.

I tried to check out the nucanoe but the link said no service. I remdmber when I was first looking at kayaks the first one I saw, and I think it was an ocean kayak but I may be wrong, was really big, set just kind of like a canoe being big and wide. Geared more towards lakes and ponds. The ad they had for it showed a duck hunter hauling his dec's out on a pound. If I remember it was like 40" wide.

The link seems to work now.  The NuCanoe is 42" wide!!!  The one I saw was camo colored ... definitely painted with the duck hunter in mind.

Hey guys, I checked out the website, the link is working now...did you read about the Specs?

6 part C states: Requires experience to track straight. :-\

 10.  The Hull is not self-bailing.  It is recommended that a bailer be on board at all times to empty out any water that may collect in the hull.  ::)

Maybe it's better if we stick with SOT kayaks?  Seems like alot of work for fishing...maybe in lakes and ponds are ok.  Definitely not for ocean, kind of worries me when the waves starts hitting.

Anyways, just my alter personality, safety, fun gotta come first, too much work, not for me.  Tee-hee. ::) :P
