Another great trip in the books !  Me and 5 friends from NJ and NY,  got back a couple of weeks ago from a 5 day fishing trip in Panama. The fishing, guides and the meals were great but the only down side, (for me any way) is camping !  Even though the tents, and campsite were very good, ......I guess, I just hate camping.  The trip getting from Panama City to the camp was a trip in itself,  with a 6.5 van ride, and then a 2 hour boat ride.  But I guess if you want good fishing, you have to get to places that are remote and hardly fished.

We had 6 hobies, 1 Revo, 4 Outbacks and 1 Pro Angler12.  I wound up taking one for the team, and used the Pro Angler, which I HATED !  I even got pulled in by a 20 lb. yellowfin tuna, after it took a sharp deep dive, behind the kayak.  I held onto the rod and swam back up, gave the guide in a boat my rod and got back in to land the tuna.  That was the best tasting fish of the trip !!  I also lost a rod and reel that was in a holder when I went over,  but at least I landed the fish  !! LOL

A few great cubera snapper were caught and a few roosterfish, with one being over 50 lbs. that broke a lip gripper as he was getting it into the kayak.  We had a bunch of yellowfin, and any smaller tuna and just too many different species to name.

Most of the fish were caught jigging in about 100 feet of water and a few were caught casting into the white water along the shore and rocks. There was a pretty big swell a couple of days that prevented us from getting close enough to the rocks to cast, but the jigging was great in the deeper water.

Here are a bunch of pictures.

Looks like fun. Might be a dumb question but how does one get their boat to panama or do they already have boat there?

The guide that we booked the trip with, has the kayaks there already.  He is one of the few that had Hobies, which helped us decide to go with him and his trip.

Looks like a great trip!
All fishermen are liars except you and me
(and sometimes I wonder about you).
