Got this nice nook on my third "last" trip to Astoria...keeps giving up fish, so I cant help but go back. Gas being cheaper was a factor in loading up the 'burb and heading down again...also,reports of lockjaw fish around here and wasnt gonna catch one from the couch.
Was about 2 hours into my troll,my mind started to wander..."is the fat lady singing?" I said to my escort of 6 seals..."will the seahawks beat the raid.."...Bam!
Rod buried and stayed down...line was peeling off....thought I hooked a seal.Great fight, showed him the net twice ...took off. Had him 3/4 in the net, got lucky, got away but stayed on.
Heard in my head a tip from Spot about patience, decided I would rather lose it to a seal than screw up the net job.
Took awhile, but finally slid him gracefully into the net...whew! Why those seals didnt jump on I dont know...they had plenty of time.

I looked for the "Like" button......no luck.

There will continue to be fish at the mouth of the Colombia for the rest of the year.

  Great king dberd.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Nice!  I was wondering how many people had that problem too.  I think I had 5 of those "last trip" to the ocean this year.   Salmon are so addicting.

Thanks, everyone. ..this was my biggest yak salmon. By far the toughest fight..had choked up to my lighter rod for coho. ..a lot of the battle was in " bendo" mode....so much fun.
