Took my new boat on Lake Sammamish last Sat. Wanted to paddle it and get used to it. It was a total cluster out there with Boats, Jetskis etc. I was sneaking into a shallow area to get out of the way and this happened. Pretty sure I had the wrong Gear.

That would most likely need 150 lb braid with a REALLY big treble hook and maybe 10oz of lead. Nice picture btw

Oh man I had to fish my phone out of the center hatch/drybag, turn it on, start the camera, stabilize while the passing ski boats throw wakes at me, (not dropping my phone). it was pretty hectic when I was just trying to get used to my boat... Although with all the people, boats, music, dogs barking, I was the only one to notice them, so I thought I needed a photo. I had no fish so next best thing. haha!

I prefer 180gr out  of a savage arms 300 win mag or the trusty 30/30 with the lever revolution rounds almost good enough distance to leave the 300 home.  >:D

  PK_Rick,

How close were you able to get to those deer ?
 Looks not too far away....
I still advocate hunting by kayak for just these kind of shots.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Those things weigh like 80 pounds, you'd waste 2 quarters with a 300WM.

.243 would approaching overkill.  .223 (with expanding bullets), especially from that range, would be plenty.

If that cell phone camera is anything like mine he was probably all of 20 yards from those deer.

At 50yds or less it's head shots only, I don't eat the horns or brains.

And here I was thinking... even with my crappy shooting skills, any DSLR with 75-300mm lens and daylight should be able to nail both at 50 yards with a single shot!   ;)

Maybe 20-30 yards. Shot with a cell phone and then cropped a little. here is a wider shot. They might have run 120. The Buck had 4pts. they knew I was there but weren't bothered by me until I had to Paddle a bit to spin around. Then they just moved back into the brush a little.
