Hey all, it's been a while since my last Germany update, figured i would start off by proudly announcing that I am going to be taking part in the World Predator Classic Kayak Open in Hellevoetsluis, Holland next week,(www.worldpredatorclassic.com) I am sponsored by RAM Mounts and will be part of Team USA with Brad Smudzinski, a Hobie Pro staffer that lives in Germany who never left once his Army time was over.  He works at the Outdoor Rec in Graff, which is the other side of Germany from where I am stationed.  the World Predator Classic is a 3 day tournament starting on the 25th, and a catch and release format.  your best 3 Zander (walleye) 3 Perch and 1 Pike count towards your daily length,  it is in brackish water which means fish get really big over there,  Perch to the tune of 50cm, Zander up to a meter and pike to the tune of a meter and a half or more.  First prize gets a trip to Hobie Worlds in China.  If you want to follow along you can watch the standings through the WPC website and I will post daily on my facebook page, www.facebook.com/yakbum.
As for the fishing-I haven't been able to get out on the kayak as much as I would have liked to lately,  Raubfische (predator Fish) laws prevented me from fishing with anything but doughbaits or worms until 1 June,  now that I can get out I've been on the local lake as much as I can, managed a few small Zander and Perch, it's a process.  I have however been doing a ton of fly fishing.
While there is currently no outlet for me to volunteer with a fishing related organization (like HOW), I am involved with a group that is attempting to set up the first ever Project Healing Waters Chapter outside of the United States.  We are still working through paperwork and legalities so it's a toss up if we will be able to get it started, but there's a good group of dedicated guys here who want this to succeed and serve others.  Project Healing Waters is Fly fishing based and we will do things like fly tying, rod building, and of course fishing trips.
Now that I am finally able to get out and do some hardcore fishing it will not be long until I can send you pics of some monster fish!  Petri Heil!
