Hey all.  Ndogg (last years champ) isn't going to be able to make this years ORC so he has asked me to run the 2016 Barbie Pole Challenge.  Here are the rules from last year.

$5 entry into the side bet
1/2 the pot goes for Heaviest fish, the other half to HOW
This style of fishing pole only http://www.shakespeare-fishing.com/Shakespeare%C2%AE-Barbie%C2%AE-Tackle-Kit/1348889,default,pd.html#start=6
No modification to the pole except you can change the line out (most of us use braid)
Verification by video or witness

If you have any questions, please reply.

OK, I'm intrigued - can we still catch fish on standard gear for the ORC, but enter any fish caught on a Barbie in this contest?

Just thinking - if I am doing incredibly bad ( or good) it might be worth 5 bucks.

Yes, but you would need to have your catch verified by photo, video, or another person. I have caught monster fish on a Barbie pole. The past couple of years I only brought Barbie poles out with me.

Also maybe you can bring two stringers, so you can keep your different pole catches separate

Stevm - try it!  It is a hoot to catch fish on a Barbie pole!!  Video playback of hook up, fight, catch and measurement (do we need to video measurement?) is fun too.  Been there, done that.  I am IN!

You will also need to report at the weigh in that is was a Barbie Pole catch.  did Ndogg get second overall last year on his Barbie pole?

It's heaviest fish.  Video of fish caught on Barbie, or witnessed.

This should be ran by the honor system in the name of fun.

With that.....

Justin
Do the Barbie rod competition fish need to be the same fish that are to be entered into the ORC weigh in?  Meaning, keeping with the ORC rules and requiring Barbie rod fish to be gutted as well?

Just figured we could clarify this.
