First rule of ORC forecast.... don't talk about the ORC forecast!

For those concerned, just remember your captain's bags will be full of stuff that will cover almost your entire entry fee, if not the entire fee. Plus a chance to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes.

So just a suggestion, if we have to do it on newport maybe it should be based on bag limit?

The official backup plan for the ORC is a potluck and raffle.  If people want to fish Yaquina Bay if the ocean doesn't cooperate, they are free to do so, but it is not sanctioned (I.e. we don't have the insurance for it).

If the bar is open to small craft it's a go.  At least that's what I'd think.

That would make perfect sense.  The ORC has been held in a bunch of different kinds of snotty conditions.  Wind, Swell and Fog all come to mind.  Part of the challenge is in being able to effectively fish in whatever conditions we're blessed with.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

That is a great attitude Mr. Veary.......
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent
