I've been looking for a good left hand retrieve reel for salmon, sturgeon, lings etc. I've found a bunch of great reels but none are LHR. I thought most people reeled with their left hand, guess not! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Btw, I'm also in the market for a good all purpose rod to match and I was thinkin the Tiger Lite by Shakespeare seems like a nice rod. Good, bad rod?

TIA
Chris

Most people reel with their left hand on spinning reels and their right hand on conventional/bait casting reels.

Anyway, an Abu Garcia 6501 is a left hand reel that should do the trick.  As for a rod, a heavy 7 ft Tiger Lite would probably work well for a general purpose rod.  The action tends to be a bit slow on those rods and you might find that you'll want something faster for ling/rockfish jigging.

Sarge,
I've been using the 6501s for a while and love them. I even have an extra, relatively new one in great shape, I'd be happy to part with.

I've been looking at the Lamiglas Sardina 870c..7', 1 piece, 15-30 line wt, fast $89.99 at BassPro. Combine that with an Abu Garcia 6501 at a combined price of $140-160 plus shipping.
