We would like to thank all of the participants and prize sponsors for allowing us to put on the Brownlee Crappie Shootout IV and a big thank you to CASA of Eastern Oregon for the awesome work they do for the children in the area. Justin Flynn as well as Noble and Pat Morinaka were also a huge help in making things run super smooth this year. Finally a big shout out to my wife Jenn for putting up with me.

We had a larger turn out than last year with a quarter of the entries being female anglers, something that we are very proud to see. Because of this interest we had a commemorative silver BCS bracelet made to match the Montana Silversmiths first place buckle.

With a full pool and scattered schools, the fishing on tourney day turned out to be a challenge, however, this did make for interesting scoring. Beginners luck was as effective as returning anglers knowledge that had much time on the water.

Crappie could be found anywhere but nowhere in particular. Big 13"+ fish were caught suspended in 200' fow as well as right under the dock at the camp site. Trolling plugs and other gear caught a fair amount of slabs but they could be finicky with a very slow presentation of tiny jigs in natural colors and pearl being the most consistent producer. Small Mouth Bass were willing biters and just needed to be located to elicit a strike. The sole Large Mouth caught during the event was found by a lady angler that finished in the top 10 for the second year in a row. She is really keeping the guys on their toes. There were bonus carp points available this year and only one of those were recorded as well. It was the smallest specimen I'd ever seen barely larger than the anglers had. After landing it, he held it up and said " If you have to catch a carp this is the one you want". Catfish were the most willing biters with fish being landed on every type of gear. The other species (Panfish,Perch, trout) were just as spread out as the crappie and coming across one of them was pure luck.

Evan Merz was able to find some great fish to pull off the win with 776 points. Just 5 points behind him was Jordan Duggar taking second place and the BCS coping blanky. Brad Hole has been a consistently high placer and rounded out the top three positions.

The top lady angler was Ashely Weber. She got some great fish and finished in the top 10 overall for the second year. Congrats and we hope you like the bracelet.

Putting a fitting spin on the event, Ashley and Evan are a couple, effectively making them the King and Queen of Brownlee. Perfect ending.

Congratulations to all of the anglers, they all fished hard and we hope to see them return for another shot at the buckle next year.

Thank you very much to everyone, we couldn't do this without you.

Here are the points and standing.

They can't seem to reclaim my Facebook account, so I'll thank all of the great BCS 2019 sponsors here.  Good on all of you!
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...
