Hey all,

I've been absent from NWKA for a little while, maybe too busy fishing.  ;D

With halibut opening again in Washington, I put together an article covering my strategies for finding good areas to fish, what bait and tackle to use, and how to land halibut if you're so lucky.

I hope it's useful and at the very least helps get you excited for the opener.

Cheers!

Thanks for the write-up. Your advice definitely meshes with a collection of advice I've picked up over the years. Nice to have it all in one place.

I agree with Captain Redbeard as articles like these are why I joined NWKA.  BYT, do you know how hard it is to buy a harpoon in Wyoming?  Even mail order was difficult but I have one now (just haven't practiced in my kayak yet).......

Nice job on the article!  Great soup to nuts write-up.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
