Don't suppose anyone knows the distance between the front and rear akas on a 2015 or newer tandem island?

Thanks,
Richard

The center to center distance for the AKA cross braces is 57.5" on my 2018 Hobie AI.

Thanks Ralph!

Can anyone confirm that the TI akas are actually shorter than the AI akas (center-to-center)?

I found a posting on the Hobie forum that said 55" for the TI but this seems odd since the TI amas are longer.

The center to center distance on the AKA cross bars of my 2017 TI are approximately 57 inches.  What is the AKA measurement you are looking for that you think may be 55?

If I recall there are different part numbers for the tramps for the AI2 (2015+ AI) and the TI (all years, TI aka spacing hasn't changed even with the change to the vantage seating) and they are not interchangeable.  The beam on the TI is wider plus the aka spacing is different.

Thanks Shin!  So it sounds like the AI and TI are pretty close then.  I'm wanting to put an AI/TI outrigger on my Oasis and 55" would have been ideal but it sounds like that person was mistaken.

Richard,

You might want to stop by your nearest Hobie dealer and bring your tape measure.  You are going to be ordering/buying a list of parts anyway so you might as well put a tape to one (make sure they have one in stock).  My regional Hobie dealer is pretty cool about letting me check out their floor models.

No problem! Looks like you are in North Porland, West Coast Sailing on your side of town most likely has one or two in stock you could look at and measure.  I don't know if Next Adventure stocks the Islands at all, I thought I remember someone saying on this forum that NA stopped selling the Island series except for maybe special order (but that was a few years ago).

If you searched on the Hobie forum for trampoline discussions I think you would find more talk of cross bar spacing too.

I actually tried that route initially.  Neither WestCoastSailing or NextAdventure have had any in stock for a while now.  They're also quite back-ordered.

I've scoured the Hobie board for this info too.  That's where I ran across the posting that said 55" for the TI: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=46625
I think they were not measuring center-to-center.

Rose over at TampaCatamarans.com sent me a pic of an Oasis she used to own so I definitely know it's possible... I'm actually planning on having 3 crossbars and a shorter distance would allow for placement in the front or back plus additional space for a 2nd tramp and haka.

So, I just got off the phone with WCS and they actually have an AI in stock!  I'm going to go check it out here shortly.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Last time I spoke with them a few weeks ago, it sounded like they wouldn't have any availability for a while but I guess it pays to be persistent!
