Wednesday is starting to look pretty decent in my opinion. Thinking of taking a day of leave. I haven't been on the ocean in a kayak since I think September. Just the thought is pretty exciting actually! Might launch from Fogerty, not sure yet.
Anyone else thinking of going?

I would definitely like to join you!
I’ve never launched into the surf, but I would like to strip all the nonessential gear out of my PA14, and give it a go.

What is the reason for launching at foagarty vs. depoe? Just avoiding other boat traffic in the hole or better fishing to the N. there?

The whales are more of a bother than boats.

I'm trying to understand more about the interaction with whales.  I am assuming we are talking Orcas?   I Have not seen any NW Orca attack reports.

I am used to Southern California and have not moved up to the NW yet due to COVID restrictions and that crazy NW Real Estate market.  I am hoping construction can be done in time on the house to participate in the spring fishing.

Where should I look for the reports on whale interactions.

 :) :) :) :) :) :o :o :o :o :o :o
Thank you all for any kindness provided in the the Pacific Northwest.

I've enjoyed the Redondo Beach grey whales from a safe distance.  It's the pups and mothers in Malibu that sneak up on you and I had some close calls.

I just like the fishing better up north a little ways. For certain gets less pressure. There is also less interaction with the resident grey whales, which are basically harmless other than they can about make you poop your dry suit when they surface next to you. They are way more comfortable around me than I am around them.
To fish where I want to go is a pretty long paddle. On one hand I have thought about just launching at DB and you don't have to go far at all for some pretty decent fishing. I have even gone out of Depoe with no electronics and still caught fish.

If you can catch a bluebird cupcake day in Dec/Jan my advice would be to fish it. There will be warmer days in the not so distant future for getting comfortable with having your ass handed to you.

Is anyone going Wed. possibly interested in: Brand new car yak racks
Brand new Cannon downrigger with depth counter
                                                                 Brand new radio
                                                                 Used ultra light spinning reels?

Just a bunch of superfluous gear I am looking to sell or trade....
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Alright so what time are people launching and Fogarty or Depoe?  I got tomorrow requested off work and wanting to fish, but don't want to be out there by myself  so would like to buddy boat with someone.
