Awesome to see so many new faces out there. My report matches up with the above. Turned loose almost 20 lings and settled for a 27" & 28". There has to be bigger ones out there. The sea bass were large and in charge.

Nice! I don't think I fully caught over the radio what it was you were fighting for 10-15 minutes there? Or did it end up just being a snag?

Thanks for the reports guys. Sounds like the shallow water was covered with male lings on the spawn? I've experienced that before when fishing in Feb-March, where you just can't keep off the smaller lings. Females are around, but you have to really weed through the males or fish deeper water.

It was a lot of fun.
Got 6 short lings before getting two keepers.
Good size on the blacks and greenling.
Thanks again Dave!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I goto to use my new harrier rod for the first time yesterday.  Not sure which I like more, the Harrier or the Trevala.  Rod butt on the Harrier is kind of long and I like having the foregrip on the trevala better.  Trevala is rated slightly higher and has a better backbone too, but the Harrier seems more sensitive and having the faster blank helps with the jig it seems.  Both nice rods for sure.

That looks like a really good greenling. Did you happen to measure it’s length?
Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

I did not measure the greenling. Was the first and only one I've caught, thus far.
Fought harder than all the chunky black rockfish I caught that day.
Tasted great in tacos!

Anthony did good with a limit of BRF & lings. I did okay - got six BRF all about 17" & took home one 24" ling. Aside from breaking a mast rod & bending the other one on my mirage drive, it was a beautiful day on the water.

Any advice on getting the broken end of the mast out of the treads? I already tried penetrating oil & vice grips. Maybe I need to let the oil soak in a bit more.

So I was way late getting set up. I parked at North Fogarty about 830. Had to re-wire my fish finder with only using a filleting knife. Not very fun! By about 10 I was wheeling down the path to the beach to find that the creek channel had swung North and cut a hard path across the end of the concrete. Had to haul everything across and over a dune to get to the water. Now it was full blown high tide and made for a pretty dam sporty launch!

I paddle out to a deep water reef with probably a dozen boats on it. By the time I got there the bite was definitely slowing down. I was a little disappointed, but I did catch 5 different species of fish. Black rockfish, blue rockfish, quill back, Lingcod, and Cabezon.
