Well, in honor of all you guys getting to fish tomorrow I cooked some really delicious rock fish in some cajun breading! YUM! I am sure Depoe will be open tomorrow morning. The launch at Fogerty will be good. I would just recommend to watch the high tide for a return. With that steep beach and an extra high afternoon tide may not be fun.
Good luck everyone! And like Anthony said, park in the south lot. I parked in the North about a month ago and got everything drug out to the sand to find I was in for a treat with the new creek channel.

good luck to everyone out there today, that 3' on 7s component of the swell (with an extra 2' on 11s from roughly the same direction) is enough to keep me on shore. ;D

As always, Dave was a machine!
Beautiful day on the water, saw huge schools of herring, dolphins playing right near me, and had a whale pass by.
Got my rockfish limit and one legal (26") ling by about 10.
Took forever to get my second, which was 22" exact, released it, hoping for bigger, and finally got it (29") about two hours later.
In addition, released one short ling, three massive cabezon, and my two biggest balcks of the day, long after I had got my limit, of course.
Great conditions, great company, great fishing!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Felt great to pull on one fish after another that weren't herring! Though there were a ton of those around too. The black rockfish were on a rampage off Gov Point, occasionally busting on huge herring schools cruising over the reef. Regardless of your bait/lure size, the blacks were going to chomp it. Many times when I'd hook a rockfish, there'd be 3-4 other rockfish chasing after him all the way to the surface.

I weeded through probably 15-18 lings before I settled on a pair of 30 inchers. There were spots where it felt like the bottom was covered with male lingcod, every drop would result in a hookup. Probably all males guarding nests? I didn't hook one female ling all morning. I guess the females were all out on the deep reef, or dealing with post-spawn stress. No worries, the fast action in the shallows was way fun.

I actually like the way Fogarty Creek's set up now. Can just float your kayak from the bridge right down to the beach. Less wheel time on the sand. Good times out there yesterday with beer_run and Larry_Mary, we'll have to do it again!

Great pictures everyone.  Glad you had a great day on the water.  We are currently under a winter storm warning (15" to 34").  No fishing for me :(

I don't blame you.  All interstates are closed in my neck of the woods.  Your fishing season is MUCH more generous than mine....

Days like this I spend too much time looking at Craigslist or marketplace.  There is a nice 2015 plus Hobie tandem island with trailer that came up for $5 grand four hours ago.

Must. Maintain. Control. More. Gear. Less. Kayaks.
