Any questions?

(1) What size herring?
(2) How far upstream & downstream do you expect we'll go? I'm thinking that studying topography wouldn't hurt.
(3) Any recs for camping in the general area? I'll be rolling down from Seattle and would like to overnight in the Portland area to minimize early morning travel.

Thanks again for putting this on!

Most overpasses seem to be pretty well used most by campers nowadays, kidding of course.

Some to check out would be Milo Mciver state park and barton county park, barton for sure should have some sites.

Green label is optimal but red or orange will do.  I'd suggest using an appropriately sized sure-spin helmet.

It's fishable for as far as you want to travel up or downstream but we'll be focusing on the area between just above the Sellwood Bridge down to Portland Sailing Club.

You might be able to find a place at Meldrum Bar.  Other than that, you could just park on the street.

YakOnDaSea - I'll PM you if you I decide to head out on the following Saturday.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this Sunday, I have to work. I tried getting someone to cover for me but no dice.
I would love to get out there on a later date though! I appreciate your willingness to help us newbies.

I'll be at the park at 6AM.  Look for the drk Grey Outback with a brand new Orange, Hobie Revo (Thanks Next Adventure!).

I'm happy to answer any gear or tactics questions before we hit the water.

The wind forecast looks light and turbidity is excellent!

Look forward to meeting you Mark. I just threw some orange label in brine and am going to finish tying up my rods rigging now. In your opinion, should a newby fish two rods or focus on one? I have my endorsement.

I'd hold off until you know where the shelves are.

Great day for learning the area but not so great for catching.  It was nice to meet some future salmon slayers though!  If any of you have any unanswered questions, feel free to ask em here.

It was nice meeting some fellow kayakers today. Thanks for the introduction to Sellwood and sharing your knowledge Mark.

No catches but it was a great, relaxing day to learn the area.
