ocean is really calm out here at Netarts,  no wind to speak of at all.  breakers at the mouth of the bay are quite small.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Definitely a yellowtail rockfish. Nice catch.
Relax. You'll live longer.

Thanks for the report! I launched from Fogarty around 1100. That south wind was indeed crappy, but it laid down and the fog lifted around 1300 and left a beautiful ocean this afternoon. The drift was brutal, 2mph from the north. But I managed 32 and 34 inch lings, and a new PB quillback at 20.5 inches. Heading back out there tomorrow.

Was the kayaker who got busted for the undersized Chinook fishing for salmon? Or did he hook it while bottomfishing? I'm bringing salmon gear out for tomorrow, saw some good sign.
