If conditions hold out based on the trend, I'm looking to get salty.

Who has a day free?  8)

If I end up not doing PC tomorrow,  I'd be down to do Depoe thur
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,

It sucked.
Trolled out to 200 feet in the fog.
11.5 total miles.
Not a bump.

That sucks!

I find it it more rewarding to fish for salmon at Costco.  I get to hit all the samples in foodie area while I'm trolling the store.

Bottom fish are plenty and relatively stupid, so it makes my return on investment well worth the time on the water.

Yeah. Wore myself out chasing salmon again today.
Lost a huge one in first ten minutes,  then not another bite for about 7 hrs....should hit the ocean this week, not the rivers. Hours of trolling,  and nothing to show for it.

Thursday at Depoe didn't seem to interesting to anyone so I decided to work on other projects instead.

Recently picked up an LP fire pit from Costco to use while camping.  Seems like wood burning campfires are pretty much prohibited nowadays.

With that I decided to try my hand at making some steel fire logs for it so I don't have to deal with the dust that the crumbly pumice rocks it came with.

Just slap the lid back on when it's time to pack it up.

A few hours into it so far, will finish it up tomorrow.
Once complete they will be welded together as one unit to keep it from falling apart in transit.

Are you starting a business with them?  Where do I place my order?
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...

Thanks compliments guys, much appreciated.  8)

I'm not done yet.  Still have plenty of texture and some features to add today to fill the space a bit more.

Tinker, it's funny you ask.  Although I don't plan to go into business making these fire logs right now, I am not against the idea of banging them out when I retire.

One of the reasons I took on the challenge of making mine was because of the cost of these custom steel fire logs commercially. Seriously, do a search.  It's mind boggling.  :o

What you see so far here was done with the just my plasma cutter and a ball peen hammer, that's it.  Great way to reduce stress cutting things with heat and hitting with a hammer.  >:D

Final product.

I got really carried away with textures and realisms today.

Wifey really likes it, it is all one welded together unit, the lid still fits perfectly, and life is good.
