Fresh offerings in the product review department. I took the AT Fishstix paddle out for a few test drives. Here are my thoughts and impressions:

In this article, Dan Arbuckle from The Headwaters kayak shop, shows a neat design for a drift anchor using components from Yakattack and Scotty.

That certainly makes it easy for me.  Allen, any idea what pound weight he has on there?  I didn't see it in the article.  I picked up a 12# pyramid for my Coosa a little while back.

Looks like the rig that kykfshr runs in the coastal streams.

The gear track seems like overkill though.  You could just mount the scotty base directly to the hull and it would still be removable with a useable handle.

That was fun to keep quiet about.  Jackson has been serious about putting together a better West Coast kayak and Jim Sammons will definitely be helpful in that department.

Wow. Wonder what will happen with all those OKs he has? Big news for sure, but OK has been kind of flat the laast few years. Maybe Johnson Outdoors needs an internal shakeup?

BTW, Issac,RE: Green Tackle, Do you make any of the lead free weights in saltwater sizes?

The kayak fishing world really REALLY needs some sleeker, faster, better handling models. I like the style of the Stealth and Kazkazi's but they are pretty hard to find and are expensive.

I hope Jim Sammons will steer Jackson Kayak to make a model or two in that direction, enough of the barges...

Hopefully they will put a huge heavy seat way up high and continue to overlook the need for secondary stability.....
I wasn't too impressed with their first attempt at an open ocean boat.

More on this.

Last fall, the entire marketing team based here in the PNW was let go.  All marketing moved back to the "new" headquarters in Maine.  And a new team has been rebuilt.

In October, Johnson Outdoors, parent company to Ocean Kayak, hired Lucas Labree as the new Marketing Communications Manager ... http://www.johnsonoutdoors.com/uploadedFiles/Media/Press_Releases/Old_Town_Canoes_and_Kayaks/JO_LaBree_Final.pdf

In December, they hired Bob McDonough as its Director of Research & Development.  Bob comes from Confluence ... http://www.outdoorindustry.org/news/industry.php?newsId=17564

In January, they hired David Hadden as its new Brand Director - Watercraft.  David comes from Freedom Hawk, and worked at Emotion and Dagger before that ... http://www.outdoorindustry.org/news/industry.php?newsId=17678
