Not Kayaking...but something different

I got outfished!

Wait, that happens all the time...

Well I took my 6 yr old son out fishing.  It's going to be a few more years before he is on a kayak...I think.  So we hoof it on a favorite stream.

He did manage to outfish me but what makes things a little different was that the weapon that he did the most damage with was a "6m pole".  6m as in 6 meters.  pole as in "no reel".  What a blast.  Used a size 10 prince nymph under and indicator. 

He did fine with my ultralight outfit too.  The 12 inch rainbow and larger grayling tested the pole.  I better scale down from 4lbs to at least 2lbs leader to save the rod in event of a monster 14 inch bow slamming it!  lol.

 Question---where do you get a 6m long pole ?Is that a traditional Japanese method of fishing. ?
