So, a few trips ago, my right one went, then yesterday, my left as well.

I assume it's a little spring or something, that keeps the foot pedals in a "ready" position,  so they are easier to get your foot on.

Whatever it was that kept em in place on mine, is now broken, on both sides.  Now the pedals hang inverted (see pic). Not a huge deal, but I'd like to fix it, if I can.

The pedals are assembled with rivets, there does not seem to be a way to disassemble them.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this, or if Hobie will do anything for me, it's a 2021, so may have a little time left on warranty.

Thanks in advance!

they look sad...like they lost their mojo.   my right pedal developed that fault, left one still fine.

Shoot, that impacts function by making it harder to get your feet back in the stirrups... I'd request that Hobie fix the issue. You could go the DIY route but that'd probably void any warranty on the drive.

Big grain of salt: I'm not familiar with the Hobie warranty.

Just a long-shot-thought.....consider using 3/16" OD, nylon braid covered shock cord, like the kite surfers and wind surfers use and forget about the spring altogether.
You can tie/secure it to the pedal arm and then connect it to the foot pedal...may need to drill a hole in the plastic to feed the line through and tie a figure 8 in the line so it won't come back out of the hole...this is how the earlier/older Mirage drive pedals were connected  to rotate the pedal back to the "ready to place your foot on it".
The shock cord is very robust and a little tension is all it takes to return/rotate the pedal for use.
Years ago, I replaced the original Hobie 1/8" shock cord on my 2013 PA-14 GT Mirage drive and it still going strong.

I'll be talking to the Hobie retailer I bought the boat from, but if they aren't helpful, I may do that, or just leave it as is.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I've got a video on YouTube showing how to get rid of some pedal squeak, about 3 minutes in I show how the pedal bungee works in there, very easy fix.

My pedal bungees wore out on my V2 Drive allowing them to just hang upside down. 1st, I ditched the straps, as they do nothing for me.

Then I took a 2 oz egg weight and smashed it flatish.  Left it about 3/16" thick.  Then Gooped it to underside of the pedal to give it a ballast effect.

Works like a charm.

Hdwpimonkey- apparently, my drive is a different version than described in your link. Mine are attached with rivets, not bolts.
I really appreciate the suggestion tho!

Kredden- I had no idea the pedal itself came apart, or that there were screws under the pad. I thought it was all one piece. I'm super happy ya showed this to me, and that it's an easy fix!
Thanks so much everyone!

Yeah, super easy fix, only took about 5 mins to disassemble,  replace bungies, clean n lube the pedal shaft.
Good as new!
.....till the next part breaks.
