Itís time to get signed up for AOTY.

Every year, I see people catch some great fish and then realize that they should have signed up for AOTY.  You need to be signed up first for those fish to count.  Donít let those high point fish get wasted.

It only costs a $50 donation to Heroís on the Water(HOW).  Good chance you will get prizes that will exceed your donation.

Competing in AOTY has made me a much better fisherman.  Not only catching bigger fish, but also expanding the species I have learned to target.  As a bonus, some really good friends have been formed from fishing with other AOTY competitors.

Donít delay.  Get signed up now

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Some more of you should be signing up. This is a fun contest whether you're super competitive or not(like me). It's a good yardstick of your efforts. I never had any interest in warm water fish prior to AOTY. Now I can at least scratch out most of the species every year. Last year I spent hours trying to catch yellow perch and failed. That's usually the low hanging fruit.

I got to visit with Drifter when I picked up my prize bag and got to talk about goals. He's got goals. I've got goals. I'm looking forward to getting out there soon and trying out some new waters and tactics. Maybe catch a yellow perch this time. You should definitely join up this year.

Not to put pressure on the people gear fishing, but the five fish submitted in the fly category have an average over 195 points.  I feel bad for bringing the average down so far with my 162.5 point smallmouth.  I guess I better get out and upgrade it.  I love seeing great fish caught on a fly.

Regretting not entering this year, but promised the wife I wouldn't.
Already have a couple personal bests, and would be in a comfortable second place. Formulating strategies for next year....
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

You could sign up and not try for first place for the year. The overall GOAT board can be intriguingÖ

That is an excellent point...

I did manage to make it on the GOAT last year, not sure if I'm still on there, or bumped off.

You guys just keep twisting my arm...

I always have trouble finding the GOAT board on the site, used the search function today, and the only result is this current thread.

Funny you should mention the GOAT board.  That is one of my main goals this year, to move up on the GOAT board.  Iím not far from passing Rawkfish and if I can keep Merz out of the water, I might have a chance at catching him.  Just need the right good fish this year.  We will see.

I agree, good point.  You're on there at #10.

I had trouble finding it too, until someone posted a link.

Welcome back to AOTY SD2OR.  And just like that, you moved up to #9 on the GOAT board.  Nice lake trout.

Thank you sir!

Yeah, people just kept encouraging me to sign up, and I finally gave in.

Now I'll probably catch all little fish for the rest of the year!

With the submission of a great walleye, Snopro has just taken over the number one spot on the AOTY GOAT leader board. I guess Jed better get signed up and get back out fishing pretty soon.

Congrats Snopro.

If he wasn't busy organizing BCS for us every year I'm sure he'd be well over 2200 GOAT points.  It wouldn't surprise me at all for Jed to sign up, catch a 20" crappie on a ned rig during BCS, and give me a big leapfrog.

:D I'll sign up and get out there eventually. Planning a tournament and a graduation party on the same day is a little harder than I anticipated. Hope you can hang out for the Luau after the awards ceremony. There will be some awesome food. I hope. Maybe. :D
