Title: Good camping (tent/vehicle) + kayak fishing lakes
Post by: oly884 on March 04, 2019, 07:34:24 AM: Hey guys, long time since I last posted, but wanted to reach out and see if anyone has some suggestions for good lakes to camp and fish at.

For most my life, my buddy and I have made trips for the Trout opener. We used to go to the potholes or over to the peninsula, but as of recent years we've just stuck around home and took day trips to the larger lakes (Sammamish, Lake Washington, etc). We're also less driven on going to "trout lakes" as, at least for us, it's more of an opening day of fishing season.

I'm hoping to find a good lake/lakes in the state that offer camping, tent or vehicle style, and decent fishing. Banks lake is one that I contemplated, but spring time seems like it can be a bit of a mixed bag, along with the wind to battle.

Anyways, any suggestions will be appreciated!

Horsetheif lake on the Columbia. Kind of like a mini Banks without burbot and whitefish. Good camping. It gets windy but you can still fish it on the lee side. Plenty of sun. Hiking trails with petroglyphs.

If you decide to make it your home base many people on here can direct you to other good fishing options near by.

Some great Trout and Kokanee fishing and bass as well.

Just any lake that is open for year round, and as for timing, I'd say around spring time would be good. I know there are some lakes that are probably better to fish at a bit later in spring/early summer, but the itch to get out is getting bad (and hopefully work will calm down a bit!).

Post by: Dark Tuna on March 06, 2019, 07:15:21 PM: I will explore Lake Wenatchee the week after Memorial Day from the State Park campground nearby. Way too windy last year to put in, though it was later in the summer.
