Hey everybody, I bought my first kayak a couple weeks ago and cant wait to get it out on the water. The more time I spend reading everyone's topics the more pumped i get about kayak fishing. My goal is to be able to fish off the coast, but for now I will stick to lakes. Any of you guys fished Fern Ridge reservoir down by Eugene?
p.s. I fish a 10' SINK old town Dirigo, and my wife has a Hobie quest 13.
Just one more fish left to catch..... and Ill have one fish.

I drive by it to go fishing all the time.  Fern ridge is a shallow lake that is used for flood control.  They drain it in the winter.  I don't think it gets stocked with trout but I've heard guys fish for bass there.

Welcome to the boards, flippenyak!

I've fished Fern Ridge once.  The fishing was awesome, the catching left much to be desired.  That's a great place to take people to go kayaking who have little experience in the sport since it's so shallow and calm.  There is crappie and largemouth in there but you'll need to put some time in to find them.  Good luck!
