Title: Alaska 2009
Post by: polepole on February 25, 2009, 09:51:54 PM
It's that time of year I start thinking about what a trip up to Alaska will look like.  Anybody seriously interested in a trip up there this year?  I got a few options that I'm thinking of, all involving big fish of course!!!  But I like to go with others and can taylor a trip to the desires of the group.

I've been trying to think about trips this year but since the little one is on the way... I'm gonna have to get to some unreal WAF building to pull anything off this summer. First the tile, then the deck, then re-painting............  8)

I would kill to go, but I need to gain some more experience on the salt first; definitely up for it next year.  I think Moutcha is going to be my only big trek this year.

Looks to be some major changes @ Molenkamp Design Studios that will free up a lot of money. Sure it'll be a last minute thing.

Hola fellers!

I've got the "go to" part of Alaska licked. Y'all need another for the fishing part? And/or logistics help? I'd sure like to get some serious fishing in this year!

Hello Jim,

How are you doing?  Hope things are going well for you.  We all have a blast fishing in Montague Island last year.  I can't wait to return to Alaska for more fishing.  Have you talk to Troy lately?

Sonny

Yup, I talked to Troy back in February. Sounds like he's doing okay. I can't wait to return to fishing here either - Spring's taking forever to get here!

After 3 years straight of doing the forest service cabin thing, I'm looking for a slight upgrade this year.  Got a few leads on some remote resorts in Prince Williams Sound.  Figure in the $100/day range.  Plus ~$500 for water taxi.  Throw in a bit for kayak rental ($25/day?).  And you know the rough range I'm looking at.

If there is enough interest to do a forest service cabin thing on the cheap, gee, I could be talked into doing both, some sort of combo trip.  In this scenario, your lodging per day costs goes substantially down, perhaps as low as $7 depending on how many people.

Pole, did you check out Kayaker's Cove out of Seward? http://www.geocities.com/kayakerscove_99664/ (http://www.geocities.com/kayakerscove_99664/)
Their prices are pretty good, and it's not as long a trip out as Montague Island. Just a suggestion.

I've  been working with Chris out of http://www.liquid-adventures.com on this years trip. I believe he already has relationships with someone out of Fox island.  That being said, we think we can put together an even more quality trip at another lodge we have identified closer to Montague.  If you're interested in this, I'll send you more info offline.  I'd like to work out more details before coming public with it here.

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!    >:(

You know I want to go...  "She who must be obeyed" has different plans this year.....

I look forward to hearing the reports and seeing the pictures, and living vicariously through everyone who goes this year.

For anyone who is even thinking about this, Polepole is a top notch planner for such trips, and a better fishing buddy you cannot have!  Heck, he has put up with me for 3 weeks these last two years!  "She who must be obeyed" can't even do that!   :P ;D

I will be there in 2010, come hell or high water!
