Finally! I connected with this little halibut today. Got him in 40 feet of water. He put up zero fight. I was just reeling up to check my bait and there he was! I had a couple other good hits while trolling as well. I suspect maybe it was kings.

   Sweet fish there rimfire
You fshing out of Anchor Point ? Have you tried Whiskey Gulch yet ? I'd be willing to bet that once you go there and see how close you are to the water ,even at low tide, you'll be hooked.Give the place a try-------you'll like it guarenteed.........

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Sweet fish!!! Great job!  Weather doesn't look too good for tomorrow. 5ft is a tad much. Argh. This is driving me crazy. But like my old man would say, "there's only one truth in fishing and it's that the fish are in the water. You can talk all you want but if your line isn't in the water, you aren't going to catch anything!"

Just looking at that king is making me crave some smoked salmon!

Awesome work

Thanks guys! Mark I did catch both of these at whiskey gulch. It's a nice spot for the kayak crew. It was nice not to have to go far. The halibut I caught maybe a Half mile off shore and the king within about 300 yards of shore.
Whiskey gulch will definitely be on the short list from now on. Course from what I hear akfishergal has had good luck at deep creek.

Here is my halibut catch video. To bad the batteries died on the camera before I caught the king. That would have been a great show.

You sure made netting that guy look deceptively easy. It's always a circus for me, not in a Cirque du Soleil way.

Well that was the laziest halibut I have ever caught! Plus my net is huge. I could probably fit a 50 lbr in my net

I was thinking the same thing about your net skills. Very smooth and confident. Did you net that King too? Now you're ready for the derby -- all dialed in with what you've got to do. Loved the video -- gorgeous day out there.
