Hey all,

I need to replace my existing finder, as it now turns itself off on a semi-regular basis while in use. I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it, but now want to make sure I understand what my options are moving forward wrt keeping my existing maps etc.

I have a Hook2 5 split shot, and it has worked fine for my needs and budget. Looking online I am seeing a lot of variability and less overt clarity on what I want and what I hope to do. I’d like to keep the split shot as I have transducers mounted on both my kayak and small PB. I need coastal mapping. I am seeing a ton of ones listed for US lakes, I really don’t fish freshwater much at all. I bought the Navionics package for my old one and have the mini SD card that slots in the body of the FF.

Questions:

- Can I buy the same model (if I can find one) and plug in my chip, and then will it show my historical marks and mapping?
- If I buy one of the inland lakes models (cheaper and plenty available), if I plug in my other cards does that then add the coastal mapping? Or is that feature something built in to the unit’s hardware
- Lowrance Reveal models- could I get one of those in splitshot, use the existing transducers, and use the cards I have to add my marks etc?
- Anything else I should be thinking about?

I’ve had a hard time finding specific answers online. I made a trip to one of the big box stores yesterday, almost no one on the floor and the one guy didn’t know much about finders. I appreciate any advice tou guys can give me, and if you know of a shop or an online retailer with that model please share the link if you don’t mind. Thank you!

Hey All,

Replying to my post in case it’s helpful for anyone. My questions may have been too basic/obvious in hindsight, regardless here’s the fix:
- I got the Hook Reveal 5 splitshot to replace my Hook2 5
- The Reveal 5 splitshot worked with my existing Hook2 splitshot transducers (plugs for power and transducer have not changed)
- I got the inland lakes mapping model. My previous Navionics card (for PNW coastal) once plugged in and selected added my previous mapping and detail
- I saved the waypoints from the old model to the same micro SD card that held the navionics data. Then loaded that into the new device, and selected import for those waypoints etc. This video was a simple primer:
