Homer on the 20-21?

I think I'm goin to plan on a homer trip for kings the weekend of 20-21. Maybe also try for halibut. Open invite! I'll be camping again. I have an arctic oven tent with a stove so should be toasty. Room in the tent for another guy or two.

I am definitely planning for it!  The fish this time were up by Anchor Point.  But still south of there.  A lot of boats were fishing a lot closer to shore but in the same water depth we were at.  Very little signs near the spit this las time out but that can change in a heartbeat.  I'll keep in touch with the folsk I know in Homer to see what the possibility is.

I wonder how far south you can drive from Anchor Point.  If its a few miles, we might be in luck.  I'll post the "spot" a little later.  Are you open for a week day?  It's a matter of getting out when the weather allows.

But Holy Cow!  The fishing was amazing!!!!

Not sure you can get close with the creeks nearby.  But they could move in by the spit at anytime.

Yeah I am open to a weekday. I don't think any of those creeks are that major.

I'd love to get in on this... my schedule is pretty flexible right now and I could probably get away for a couple of days.  Weekend or weekday.  I'll keep watching marine weather and this thread with fingers crossed.

I'm definitely looking hard at that date.  You just never know until you go where the baitfish are.  I will say I was sufficiently impressed by the early morning bite to try and be out on the water as early as safety allows.  Besides if we get lucky and hit the kings, I would love to try some more halibut fishing.  Trying to stay optimistic.

Sunday is looking doable weather wise. I'll make the call at 4am on Saturday and 4am on Sunday. They were close in as of last week. It should be the peak of near shore availability.

The missus is having me do a family day on Saturday now. Might just have to do the Sunday thing now as well

Too much variability to rely on the forecast this many days out, but as of right now, Sunday is the weather window.  Saturday might be ok but ewon't be as much fun.  They are talking about a HIGH of 32 on Sat and 34 on Sunday in Homer.  At least its supposed to be sunny.

I'd better start gathering gear now...  Revo and saltwater gear for hunting kings off the spit if that weather window holds. But waders, the 7 wt and streamer flies for the Anchor if the window closes.  Or maybe just stow the Lynx in the back of the station wagon in case the Upper Kenai beckons -- last week's rainbows still have my attention.  So many possibilities.

Must consult with the sensible member of this domestic partnership to see whether his cabin construction project can be deferred for the weekend, so I can have his company. Last weekend he was out of state, so I'd like to be with him first and foremost this weekend. If he'd rather swing a hammer than drive to/from Land's End, then I'll be reaching for my work boots instead of the car keys. Let's hope he's able to be enticed with the promise of fresh oysters from Petersen Bay.
