Is anyone interested in sharing a campsite/yurt/cabin on Wednesday night at Ft Stevens for this event?  I don't have my schedule worked out for volunteering yet, but it's a 3hr drive one way for me and I'd likely camp the night before if I'm gonna do this.  Any takers?

That is a real possibility, Barb. I'm working on a friend who may be a participant as well. I have been toying with the idea of going the night before.

I'll be staying the night before in one of the cabins but won't be getting in until really late as we're diving up after work.

Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

If ya'll do decide to share a spot I'd get one quick.  You can get them online.  We booked about a week ago and there were only two cabins open for the two nights we'll be up there.  I've never been to the place but it's the week before spring break for our boy so it may get crowded fast.  There were a lot more tent sites open but setting up a tent in the dark in the (hopefully not) rain didn't sound fun. :)

Also, I think there's some pass available for veterans or disabled veterans to be able to stay for free.  It asked me about it during check out but I don't have one.

I got a cabin.  I'll be at K03 (I think) if anyone wants to stop by and say Hi.  👋

We are staying till Friday.

... And they are going fast!

I just booked a yurt. I figured $22 for a tent site, $45 for a yurt ? I rather get to the yurt in the dark than set up a tent, and especially in event of rain. The difference will be the best $20 I spend this year if its raining.

There are mattresses for 5, I presume that means some sort of cot. I'm expecting to have one person with me as a participant. Anyone else wants in, drop me a PM. All it costs you is your overflow parking for $5 as I've already made the booking and was doing it whether I'm alone or not.

I coulda got a cabin, but it's only one vehicle allowed, and the overflow parking is over by the yurts, and I figure if you're gonna have a yak on your rig overnight, may as well have it next to you instead of a few hundred yards away.

The bedding is pretty much the same, you bring a sleeping bag to use in either case. There won't be a TV or couch. But there will be a fire ring. Unless it looks like raining I'll bring some firewood.

I haven't stayed in yurt before anyway. It says they have an electric heater that may not be sufficient if the temps get really low, so I'm bringing a propane buddy just in case.

So, bring a chair, sleeping bag, and your boat !

Check-out is 1pm, so we probably need to spin by and grab gear during lunch break.

I'm in !!!   Still a few minor details about pulling a volunteer tab from the facebook page, plus I might have another volunteer convinced to come with me.  This will be my first HOW event.  Looking forward to it.

This is turning into a nice little NWKA meet up.  I like it!  Thanks again to everyone who is coming to help out.  I can't wait to see you all again, and for some the first time. 😀

Sure.  The more the merrier.

Don't forget everyone, if you are coming to volunteer on shore or in the water or to participate head over to the eventbrite site to get either a volunteer ticket or a participant ticket.

I just signed up to help. I might just stay onshore. But also haven't caught or helped catch a fish for way too long
Do you guys need any extra yaks  ? I can bring a couple if it will help. How about poles and other gear ?
I might have 1 or 2 poles and other gear if you  need some . Just let me know, okay ?
Might be a bit late--- but I'll still help out where I can.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

You can help out where ever you feel comfortable.   We need onshore folks as well as on the water.
I don't think we will need any extra yaks but if you want to bring them it's up to you.  Fishing gear is a little easier to pack so you might want to bring a couple rods.  We have our own plus what Anthony has.  I also plan on bringing a few extra for others to use from shore if they want to wet a line.  Powerbait and maybe some worms might not be a bad idea either.  I've never fished Coffenbury yet so I'm not sure what will work and what wont.  Typically  for stockers though Powerbait is a pretty safe bet.
