Looks like I'll have to invest in a cart too.

Ronbo, I've seen a number of PVC carts break.  Do you reinforce your version in any way?

-Allen

Allen's right in that PVC carts will eventually break, especially if you abuse them (as always, you don't really have to ask ::) [see the bottom picture below] )  My carts lasted between 3 trips to 5 years.

Ronbo's however, should be a bit better than mine because he uses pneumatic tires that act as a suspension. My carts (that all eventually failed at the least optimal moment) used hard plastic wheels from a kids 4x4 and, although they are lightweight and did pretty well in soft sand, they had very little flex.

They are also different in that mine are all built to break down (ahh, disassemble) for storage inside the boat (the vertical joints are not glued) and I'm not sure how much that added to the failure rate. I also use a solid rod axle with cotter pins on the ends instead of all-thread, as its almost impossible to get a nut off when you get sand or grit in the theads. (That really does not matter if you don't plan to take it apart)

I've since gone over to the wheeleze camp as I've seen them work waaay to well to bother. But their price has "the cheapest man alive" in me still at work on a DIY alternative (is it Thursday afternoon yet?)

All of that said, good PVC carts work and can be built for <$30.
But that said: Caveat lector ;D

Just in case you did not notice Ronbo's Link to his cart:

I just threw one of these together until I break down and by a wheelez. I am planning to take it on some sandy beaches, so I am hoping the cheapo harbor freight tires I got are wide enough. I would post some pictures, but it is awfully ugly!

Those HF cheapos will work marginally provided you run duallies.  Then it gets really heavy.
Single HF wheels act like anchors in the sand, even if you run them low pressure. BTDT

I kind of wanna know the details of an adventure that requires a squirrely river boat, an SOT, and the family truckster canoe.
