Is the boat in the first pic a 21' Bayrunner Baja?

Yes it is.  Good eye!

I've got a serious hankering to add one to my fleet ;D   Great light weight economical nearshore boats!

I've been passively looking for a boat last couple years.  Was checking out this one and it looks pretty sweet.  Would definitely cover the sound/san juans fishing, and looks like trips to the coast as well. I like the amount of deck space it has, and the no-frills simplicity.  And you're right pelagic - good price for what you get.

Allen, what size motor does your friend have on it (or is it yours?)?  And is the offshore outboard mount a custom addition or do some of them just come like that?
What else can you guys say about it? What are it's limitations?

Rory, You can't look for one until I find mine ;D.  As to transoms,  some 21' ers and all 23' ers (very hard to find) have that transom.  I've seen everything from a 150hp to twin 50's on these boats.  I want the full transom like the boat in Allen's pic's and I'd hang a 4 stroke 115 on it.  For the price point you get a lot of nearshore boat for your dollar.   If you want to do some drooling and step up a grade or two check out Pacific Skiffs, If I had money to burn I'd have them build me a sweet nearshore machine

I actually think 150 is overpowered on this boat which is what is on this particular boat.  Keep in mind that it is a light boat (like 1500# bare hull weight).  That means you don't need as much HP to get it up and going, but it also means that when you are going, you are going to riding over the waves and not plowing through them.  Read that to mean that it could be a rough ride at higher speed even in a slight chop.  We rarely take this boat over ~18 knots and I don't think it takes 150 HP to do that.  Shoot, if I owned one, I might put a 90 on it.

Yeah browsing some pics on the intarwebs I'm seeing some 90s on that boat.

Very interesting.  Def gonna do some more research. OK pelagic, I promise not to get one til you get yours!  The Pacific Boats look like awesome workhorses.  Serious all-business crafts.  Both the 20ft and 23ft look just about like what the dr. ordered.
