Hi all,
I recently purchased a Native Slayer Propel 13, and have tried making a scupper cart out of PVC for it, and have found that the cart warps and breaks under the weight of my yak. What am I doing wrong? I used PVC glue, thinking that would give me a stable cart. Do I need to use schedule 80 instead of schedule 40? A different glue? Is my kayak just too heavy for a PVC cart?

What's it look like? Pipe size? If it's pvc it needs to be fairly rigid.

These are 2 to consider. Mine is like the top one with the bunks but i have a revo so it's lighter.

Use Sched 80. My scupper cart for my Hobie Revo has lasted 8 years so far with a fair amount of abuse.

I don’t think a Native scupper can withstand the forces applied with a scupper cart, you might crack a scupper. Newer hobie’s have reinforced scuppers for a cart. I use a C-Tug with a regular tension strap sewn to the paddles, works for my Big Tuna, Mariner, and Slayer

+1 on Schedule 80. Schedule 40 pvc may be ok for dragging your kayak over pavement, but I have snapped two DIY schedule 40's dragging my Outbacks through the sand at PC. Harbor Freight makes affordable blow up tires, and I'm thinking of doubling up the wheels like a Doolie truck so it will go over the sand easier.

The boone dox landing gear seem to be the go to for the heavier yaks. Does not look like they would be too hard to fashion yourself. I know when my boat arrives tomorrow I will be in the same boat as you and I have been thinking about how I am gonna move it around.
Once it is here I do have a good quantity of galvanized pipe laying around that I figure I can fashion something out of. ;)

I ended up making a through scupper cart out of 3/4" galvanized steel pipe, with a 24 inch piece of all-thread as the axle. Seems to be holding up fine, especially since I hit it with loctite.

Yikes! That's gotta be one heavy sob.
Leave that at the truck when fishing for sure.
