Anyone know of any local retailers that have a good selection of RAM components? I'm needing a few of those from the picture above in the same 1" size to complete the remodel of the cockpit of my yak. I feel like the only place to find those are online. Maybe some nice camera stores?

Not sure if any of these places have a good supply in stock, but you could always call and ask.

Found these on the RAM website.

Be sure to update the list above with any "intel notes" that you sniff out from any of the dealers so others can use it, too.  8)

all the oregon locations listed are just radio and phone mounts. Stopped by Rodgers Marine months ago and they don't have any RAM stuff at the shop... Shopping for individual components is tough.

Online is the best bet.  Fishermans only has Lawrance mounts.
Cabela's has a lot of RAM stuff, but they don't even know what they do and don't have.  Bought a Rev. 2007 rod holder there and the gal said they didn't have any RAM rod holders, just electronics mounts....

Yeah I feel you on that.  I was in there looking for a mount for my GPS and couldn't find anything suitable, asked an employee for help, and they were clueless, then I caught the RAM mounts out of the corner of my eye two aisles over.  Turned out they had one specifically made and ready to go for my GPSmap 60CS  (there was a whole wall of RAM mounts for all types of GPS)

And in all that mess there is a rod holder. Think I went through the rack 4 times before i found it

Paddled 10 miles in todays high winds... didn't mark any fish worth mentioning, BUT, this setup worked out great.  The FF was right about the same place as my ankles, so it was very easy to reach.

I found Express Mounts and GPSZone to be the least expensive for RAM gear last year.  You need to know exactly what you want.

I bet if a person opened up a Ram Mount store in Hillsboro/Beaverton area, it would make all kinds of money.

Stock just about everything, and you'll have people driving in from all over the place.  These individual bits would be much easier to buy up, if you could touch and feel each one.

I can see the store having a HUGE display of each item so you could test and tune your application right there, and then buy what you need (and then some, just because you're there).

Funny you mentioned that.  When I envisioned how the store would be laid out, I saw a few vending machines along a back wall, with a narrow stand up bar/table near them.  Also comfortable to walk on floor covering, because like you said....they will be in there for a while.

Then I got to pondering what the best way a store layout should be.  Kinda thinking having a HUGE display wall with tons of the parts securely attached to it (so the parts don't sprout legs and walk out the door). Folks could get all touchy feely with the bits.  Then if they wanted to put together a package, they fill out a list of part numbers.  At which then they take it to the counter where an associate goes in the back and collects all the bits from highly organized bins. Much like how car parts are arranged at a part store.

Thought further, and come up with this.  Obviously ya goto have an online store as well with competative online prices.  The online store would have everything the physical store has, and more, but be slightly cheaper due to normal shipping costs to the customers.  Here's a twist...  if there is an instore item that has been stocked in the past, but is zero binned at the moment, the customer could order what he wanted via the website and have it delivered to the store with zero shipping costs to them.

RAM is in Seattle and online and easy to order from.

The NothingI am wondering if you have a PT-15 why you didn't use the transducer scupper hole?

Unfortunately I am no where near Seattle, and for the most part avoid it when I am near it.

I'm in the boat with those that like instant gratification on some products.  Once I have seen and touched a product and don't necessarily need it "today", I'll go ahead and order online.  But with RAM hardware, I'd really like to be able to snap a few items together in my hand before purchase if possible.  A RAM store, or many of them around the country would be awesome.   :headbang:

I may be able to safely answer for The Nothing about why he didn't use the scupper hole for his 'ducer.
While surf launching (in an actual surf), the Trident yaks can and will take water over the bow.  This fills the foot wells with water and makes the yak kinda tippy.  Quick draining of the foot wells is the primary concern at that moment, and with the scupper hole blocked 80%-90% with a 'ducer, water doesn't drain much before taking on another wave.

The mounting hardware is plastic.  There is some give in the mounting system.  One could bevel the bottom of 2 sides (of the six) of the nut to allow more clearance for improved drainage, then tighten until one of the beveled sides lines up with the scupper trench.
