There's been a bunch of yaks w/ scupper cracks recently. I just had to check mine and nothing there. Whew! W/ the horror stories I thought it'd be a good idea to check up on it every now and again to avert a terrible situation easily. A good idea for all of us.

There's especially been some crack issues w/ Cobra's. From what I've heard they are older models and Cobra says they have fixed the issue. But if you have an older hull keep an eye on it. Spot, PNW etc. this means you.

Here's a few examples.

On my older Cobra Triple I had a pinhole leak develop in a scupper hole.  This sometimes happens because the scuppers are a harder place for place for the plastic to get to.  You wouldn't have been able to see it from a manual inspection.  I got lucky as it was one of the scuppers right under a hatch.  I opened the hatch on the water and saw a small squirt of water coming through.

I wouldn't bother trying to repair it as I've heard their customer service has been great and had no problems replacing them w/ new kayaks.

I have to say, that the quality of customer service in the Yak industry today is impressive.
I suppose all the sales competition is helping that along.
