Ross Island Lagoon Access

I ran across a post on IFish about an upcoming Portland city council meeting to discuss a proposal to make Holgate Channel a no wake zone and to motors completely from Ross Island Lagoon.  I haven't fished the Lagoon, but some of the bass guys on Ifish seem upset.   Has anyone here ever fished the Ross Island Lagoon?  I'm guessing it has decent bass fishing in it in the summer.

Thanks for the link Brian. I just had to add a few comments as well (untypically tame and polite, for me)

I picked up a few smallies there last summer fishing with my buddy and his daughter.  According to my Bass sources, there are some biggies back in there.

I also used to water ski back in there during the winter and spring.  It's one of the few areas that is glassy when the winds are blowing.

Nearest access is Willamette Park.  Dang good Springer and Sturgeon spots nearby too.

Oh yeah, DON'T EAT THOSE BASS!  The lagoon was a dumping groud and I believe it's a superfund site.

Ross island is where they dumped the Swan Island shipyard dredging!  ditto on the don't eat thing...  They "capped" it with clean dredging but I can't say I have much faith in things like that in a dynamic river system.  Good smallie fishing on the upriver end of the island. Most years there is a bald eagle nest on the river side halfway down the island.
