I'm John Purser, live in Tacoma, and I'm going to try out kayak fishing this year.  I'm a disabled vet who has been having trouble finding a way to get back into fishing.  I've got a used Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game which I figure with it's 550 to 600 lb capacity just might be enough to keep my fat ass afloat.  I'm slowly building up my gear and as soon as I get my kayak mobile I think I'll run down to the Lakewood boat ramp onto American lake and get to work figure out how I'm going to do this.

Should be an interesting year!  Expect me to be around a lot daring to ask that stupid question!

Welcome John. Thanks for your service to this country. Your Ocean Kayak is a solid boat. You've come to the right place to learn. I've learned a TON in my short time spent on the forum.

A pleasure to make your acquaintance, John.  You'll feel very welcome here. If stupid questions were a problem, I'd have been kicked out a long time ago.  Lots of good folks here to keep noobs like us from doing too much damage.

We have all asked our share of stupid questions.  I frequently still do.

Welcome John!!!  Being a large person as well, I looked at that yak.  Almost got it, but was sold on the mirage drive.

Hope to see you out there sometime.  I am down in Oly, so would be happy to get out with you whenever.

That was another reason for the Big Game.  That and my girlfriend's 4 year old grandson.  Plenty of room for my buddies.

My springer is 6 this year.  Since he's the biggest coward on God's green earth I expect it  will take a little time before he relaxes on the kayak but we'll get there.

Welcome John. Ask away! There's some answers to be had on this forum. Good ones!
I believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question when it asks about anything having to do with yak fishing, rigging, paddling, or anything else that has to do with fishing or "messing around in boats."
