MonkeyFist:
(6) Effective January 1, 2020, surface buoys used to mark recreational crab pots or rings must be marked in a visible, legible and permanent manner, with information clearly identifying the owner of the crab pots or rings. The identifying information must include first and last name or business name and at least one of the following: (a) Permanent address; (b) Phone number; (c) Angler Identification number; or (d) The vessel documentation number issued by the U.S. Coast Guard, or, for an undocumented vessel, the vessel registration number issued by the state
You probably do this already, now it's mandated. ::)
Pinstriper:
eh....this is horseshit.
Maybe I don't want every lugnut on the water to have my address and ready to call their buddies back in town to tell them nobody is home at the moment, go break a door.
Not to mention, my kayak doesn't HAVE a registration number.
Ling Banger:
"Hey Sarge these here pots lack proper identification."
"Nice eye Corporal, we'll just drop anchor and wait 6 hours for them to come back and issue them a citation."
Mojo Jojo:
Put it on the submerged side with a fine tip Sharpie as small as you can print. Now let’s all demand they actually issue citations for pulling someone else’s pit, I was literally told by LEO “ they didn’t steel your crabs, there not yours till there in your possession “ even though the took it out of “my” equipment.
Pinstriper:
All they really need is the angler number. After that, screw them.
