I have an Emotion Grand Slam Angler, and i have developed some scratches on the sides, probably due to launching lakeside and being hit by small waves when trying to put in along rocks, probably not the brightest idea, and worst of all accidentally dropping the kayak off the top of my 4runner while trying to load it up after fishing, couldn't see any bad damage other than scratches. My question is there any way to fix them, and since they aren't deep or anything like that do they hurt the kayak structure or performance, does any of the plastic treatments or sprays help with anything else other that sun protection.

keep on paddling & don't worry about them. All plastic boats get scratches, and they aren't an issue. It won't hurt structure or performance.

Yep, what Alkasazi said.

I've dropped, drug, rolled and generally abused my boats and, assuming you can't see daylight through them, scratches are nothing to worry about.

Is that an Sevylor inflatable I see in your pic? Hows it working for you? I had one and I loved it,,,,, when it held air.  :-\  Not a problem with scratches or poked holes or anything. The dang bladders just had a series of factory faults in the tips.  :angryfire:

Other than that, it was a great boat! Way Waaay stable, paddled ok,  plenty of roome and packed and shipped as luggage. Hope yours are better than mine.

Thanks for the replies, being relatively new to larger(12ft+) hard plastic SOT kayaks for fishing, i wasn't sure. Yes that is a sevylor and I have 2,  which was my fishing craft before the emotion, Ive had them for a year and they have held air like a champ, they are very useful for when you just dont want to lug around the larger kayak, or the lake or creek is just too small. The only thing i dont like is when you get wet the water soaks the canvas and pools in the bottom of the kayak when enough gets in (Like when your trying to land a 40+ in tiger muskie).
