I was considering selling my 2018 Outback, but I think I wills stick with it. This video is just one person's experience, but I fish those conditions a lot and that was a lot of water coming in the hatches.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZWZAkyyhYU

Apparently this was posted in another thread as well. My bad.

Being lower to the waterline, having a horizontal rudder, and taking water over both the sides and front in what looks like typical Oregon coast conditions after the noon winds start to pickup, I would say that this Outback best suited for frog water.
Getting the hatches sealed or not, he did not look comfortable at all out there. :icon_pale:

No doubt the 20 pounds of ice on the front hatch helped to deform the cover and Hobie has acknowledged the seal needs improvement.

Well, yeah DOUBT. The second video on NCKA (page 2 of http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=85761.15) shows about a gallon of water in the hull after three teeny-tiny swells washed over the bow - and that guy didn't put anything on top of the hatch cover. Let's not make excuses for them, Hobie dropped the ball on this issue.

Haters gonna hate.

I think the hatch seals are a known issue on the 2019. Hobie is pretty good at fixing problems on new models and will likely take care of Y'all.
That being said, they did absolutely nothing for this guy:

Wow that must have been quite the thread.
I went there and got an instaban on my IP address.
I've never posted on the Hobie forums, guess I never will now.
