Not too much activity on the date of the meeting so I'll go ahead and make a date.
February's meeting will be on Friday the 12th 7PM at Dad Watsons pub in Fremont. http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=14
Dad's is at 3601 Fremont Ave N.

Looks good to me.Think I have the day off. Look forward to meeting all.
Rich
-
No can do. TLW and I bought in on a friend's Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony party for a charity auction. I'd skip it, but TLW is greatly looking forward to it.
DAMN!
-
I may be game for this one... I'll know closer to the date.
-
I'll be there too, barring my own personal death or maybe a job out of town. The job out of town isn't that likely before Feb. 12th though, so mostly count me in.
Fishin-T
-
Personal death aside, looks good fer me....
-
For those newbies who feel like attending please feel free to join us. We're a pretty nice crowd and like to help those who want to get out on the yak for some fish. We should be easy to spot, I'll be the really tall guy w/ the red hat. Glad to see you'll make it KT.
Z
-
Is there still a meeting this Fri 2/12 in Fremont? Who's all coming? Still 7-7:30ish?
-
On my calendar---Rob.
-
Yep, still on. See you there.
Z
-
Looking forward to meeting and having the recommended micro brew
-
By the way. Do they have any low sodium food for this old geezer. Meniere's Disease
requires low salt. If they don't, I'll take my chances and you guys may have to put up with the tic-del-arugue(fart,sh..,f... and fish on). Where's McMurphy when I need
him?
Rich
-
Ok guys, tonight's the night. I'll bring some show and tell gear for trolling and mooching for chinook. See you all out at Dad Watsons at 7.
Z
-
If the GF is feeling better, we'll head up there.
-
Bryce. Thanks for setting up the brewfest last nite. It was good to meet the 4 others
who showed up and the comradare was great. good info, food and micro brews and
the flourocarbon knot tying demo was superb(it was hard to see with 58 yr old eyes
and the pounded brews probably didn't help those deft fingers in manipulation!!).
Look forward to more of the same every other month or whatever. If I can make it from Mt Vernon then anyone else can from a fair distance. And a BIG THANKS for
sharing those SECRETS that will get us more hookups?!@#$%^&?! ;D :o ::) >:D >:D. Fishin-T, Gulp on!
-
Would love to down a couple of brewskis with you guys and get some tips on some good fishin' spots... but couldn't make it. Will try to attend the next one though.
-
Just wanted to say I enjoyed meeting all the guys who showed last night- Rich, Tom, Bryce and Frank.
Looking forward to hearing how the sturgeon fishing goes Rich.
Tom, I will be looking for your posts on the Sombrio trip cause if I can't do the Moucha Event then Sombrio could be a good replacement.
Tight lines to all--
Rob. ;D ;)
-
Yeah, thanks Zee for pulling together our little get together.
I was thinking it would be just some brew and sociallizing, but Zee layed enough rich fishing info (mostly salmon and salmon mooching stuff) on us that I felt like a near total newby. And I see that as a GOOD thing. I like your point about how it's all a numbers game out there. That's a really good way to look at things when we're sizing up anything about kayak angling. Hook orientation, fishing time and location, fish congregation... you name it.

Rob. ;D ;)
Yeah, I'll be trying to pull together about a 5 day trip for roughly the July 10 to August 15 time frame. That's the ONE trip that I'm wanting to do more than any other this summer. I'll look up the tides and currents so as to nail a date down more accurately. That, and I'd have a lot better idea what I can and can't do if I could start what ever new job comes next. Some times it gets really tough to get away. When I get something firmed up, I'll post it in the "Let's talk kayak angling" forum. Even though it will happen in B.C., the post will be directed to members from all of our areas.

I am VERY sorry I had to miss it. TLW and I had a previous engagement for a Winter Olympic opening ceremony party at a co-worker's house. <Big ass yawn>
-
Anyone down for a meetup on Thurs. the 18th?
Z
-
Sorry, I can't make Thursdays - I spend the evening with my mother - she's 82.
-
I think i cn make that one
Scott
-
I could make the 18th-- same place?
Rob.
-
I'll be there.
Frank
-
we will be there on the 18th, but where is I'm going to? same place? :spittake:
P.S. to Yakker-Rich landed a 63" sturgeon last week. no pics. he was more concerned with safely releasing the fish. Says it took about 20 min to bring in. :D at least he knows now they're really out there!
Hope to meet everybody on Thursday nite, and soak up as much info as brew.
-
Yeah, I'm guessing Dad's. I also like Zayd Buddy's in Ballard though. Fried cheese curds and Leinenkugels!
Z
-
So we're lookin' at Kyksher, Yakker, 525, Yakchick, and fushnut showin' up? Anyone else? Bueller? Bueller?

Not going to ask where, but I am asking how he caught the sturgeon. Bait, depth, rig?

Any ideas for this month's meetup? Any new people coming this time? Or is it going to be the Zee, FishinT, fishnut, 525rider, yakker show? ;D
How about Thursday the 15th? Ideas for a new place?

Thursday the 15th works for me.
-
What about the Park Place Pub in Kirkland (right off 405) or somewhere in Georgetown/SoDo (The Hudson or Smartypants)?
-
Will be good to see the Noggin' and Yar. How's the seating at Smartypants? Looks like a cool joint. Any thoughts about Zayda Buddy in Ballard? www.zaydabuddyspizza.com They've got a super long table that's good for groups.
Z
-
How many people are you thinking will show? Smartypants has a couple roundtable booths that can seat about 8 and then plenty of table that could be strung together (inside or out on the veranda).

I guess 7-8 so sounds like It'll work. If it's ok for everyone let's do it!
Z

What's magic about Thursdays? It's the only evening each week I spend with my elderly mother. Y'all want me to break my mother's heart? How about the next meet on a Tuesday or Wednesday?
-
How about the next meet on a Tuesday or Wednesday?
That works for me.
Anyone want to do some demos? I can bring some gear and tie up some teaser droppers for lings.
Lings open on the first next month. :angry5:
Z
-
so the meet is going to be Thursday the 15th of April at Smartypants.
is that correct?
-
Yep. Same time at 7PM. Here's a map:

Since I work a few minutes away I'll be there early and snag us some space.
-
I'm gonna end up having to drive up there to hang out. Seems South Sound died off :-\ over fishing?
-
Hey,
I have yet to make it to one of these get togethers so I will stop by tommorow unless some family crisis comes up. I assume they have beer to go with the vegan fare?
Tomas

no, just not a lot of peeps seemed to listen when ya hailed 'em... but, darn it, don't give up on that bunch.. change the venue if ya have to, too...
............now back to the regularly scheduled forum........

Tomas
Vegan fare? You must thinking of Squid and Ink, not Smarty Pants... Yes, they have beer and they serve meat. I won't be caught dead in a place that doesn't serve meat (unless they only serve beer/liquor >:D)
-
My mistake, I was thinking of the Georgetown Liquor Company. I have had some good vegan food before but I always feel ripped off not having some animal protein.
Tomas
-
Ugh, yet again I'm not going to be able to make it. :'(
I HAVE to go to the gym tonight, and tomorrow the woman starts a 2 month work stint in Seattle and will want to be in bed by 8:30 tonight.
Also, Soy is bad for men! dangers of soy for men (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-dangers-of-soy-for-men.htm)

We'll see you next time Lee.
I have had some good vegan food before but I always feel ripped off not having some animal protein.
I feel that!
See you guys there.
Z
-
Hi,
Nice meeting up with you all last night at Smarty Pants. I ended up stopping by the vegan place down the street (Georgetown Liquor Company) where I found many a tattoted women and a punk band (I still can't hear anything).
Cheers,
Tomas
-
Whens the next meetup? I propose having a meeting further north like in the Everett area. It's hard for us far north guys to get down to Ballard and
Seattle areas. How about having an extreme north sound meeting if this other option doesn't work. Could be from Bellingham to Everett. Please send some opinions on these alternatives. It would be great to meet some new faces.
-
Anywhere between Lynnwood and Arlington and I'm in for sure. Would be nice to see the crew.
-
OK north sounders let's get this meetup/squidfest started. Friday 7pm- limits rain or shine! Ideas for location welcome.
Z
-
How about "The Rock Pizza" in Lynnwood or Mill Creek?
-
How about "The Rock Pizza" in Lynnwood or Mill Creek?
This was actually a squidding/meetup event that came together from Pixters' squidding report. Fungunnin was proposing the North end of the downtown Seattle waterfront. So far it looks like Matt_k, Fungunnin, and myself are in. FG do we need to bring lights for that location?
Z
-
Doh... I thought it was one of our evening imbibing sessions >:D I guess I should read that thread.
-
The location I had in mind was pier 68. That is the back side of the Victoria Clipper/ Port of Seattle pier. There are sometimes a few guys out there. If we are the only ones we will need lights. The good part is there are outlets so all we need are extension cords and halogen work lamps.
Some rope to tie the lamps off the the railing is a good idea too.
Any chance you guys would be up for a Thursday night get together. Looks like I will be heading towards the coast on Friday night.
-
So is this sans yak?
-
So is this sans yak?
Oui! I'll bring a lamp and extension cord.
Any chance you guys would be up for a Thursday night get together.
I'm cool w/ Thurs or Fri. Make yourselves heard people.
Z
-
I am intrigued and interested in joining you guys on Thurs or Fri either works for me. What do I need to bring for gear? Also what do you do with Squid?

I've got some stuff going on Friday night too. Is everyone ok w/ Thursday?
Z
-
Damn, had hoped to join you in a non fishing capacity friday evening.. oh well mebbe next time..
-
Thursday sounds great as of right now I will be able to make it
-
I've got an early meeting Friday morning... I'm out. :embarassed: Good luck guys.
-
Ballet Thursday night. Even if you just get a few folks go for it. When it's on it is a hoot - even weird in a good way.
Squid jigs have eyelets on the top AND bottom. You can string jigs together with a couple feet of leader and fish 2 at a time. You may also want to put a small light stick in between or under the jigs. If you are using a single jig, casting far like a buzz bomb may be the way to go, but often with simple or more complex terminal gear, simply swinging your gear underhand off the pier will work just as well. Hopefully the lights will draw the squiddies to you.
MA 12 closed for squid. All other MAs: No min. size. Daily limit 5 qts. or 10 lbs., plus up to 5 HUMBOLDT SQUID. Legal gear is a forage fish jig, a maximum of 4 squid lures, forage fish dip net, or a hand dip net. Each harvester must have a separate container.
You're a lucky stiff with LOTS of good eats if you haul in a Humboldt!

On page 2, in case you missed it:
... just remember what demonic said about getting inked, pretty much will happen! :D You can kind of figure them out though. Once you get them up to the surface, don't pull them in too quickly. Let them sit just off the surface for a sec and let them squirt once or twice, then bring 'em in.
-
I'm in for Thursday night. Matt
-
Ok. I'm bringing my squidding gear to work today, so I hope this happens!
I'll check back in here for details later, but hope it comes together for 7 pm by the Victoria Clipper terminal tonight! (Thursday)
- Matt
-
I'll probably be late but I'll be there.
Z
-
Can't do this evening unfortunately. Let me know the next time you guys go squidding. Sounds like a great time.
-
Zee
Let me know when you'll be there. I will just work til then. I have no spotlight so no sense potentially standing around in the dark!
-
I discovered the NWKA site a week or two ago and have been wishing I had the set up to join some of the folks reporting on Hobuck trips lately.
This evening seems like it will be a good chance to meet some of you. I'll try and be there.
I'll dig in my gear for squidding stuff... sure I must have something from a few years back.
-
I will be there I will be leaving Tacoma around 7 so I will be there between 730-8
-
I'm wandering around pier 68-70 and see no NWKAs or power plugs. Let ms know if you're here or know where to go! 206-919-5624

Nice seeing everyone last night. Squidding was tough and I ended up with 1.. :P Lets try again!

Sorry I missed this as I would love to have met up and I am a big fan of Browers. My job has been hammering me for the past months and have not even had time to visit the site no matter get out for a paddle :( . Have a week off around Christmas and hope to get out on the water if the wind is not howling as it has been lately.
Cheers and happy hollidays,
Tomas
-
Bummer, this would have been fun except for the timing.
Flew to Texas that Sunday night to buy off a 787 engine mount on Monday morning. At least the schedule slide isn't on my shoulders ::)
As luck would have it the 737 we boarded at Seatac had a faulty sensor. The pilot came on the PA system and announced "folks, it looks like we have a problem with the plane and as soon as we figure out what we're doing we'll let you know"
WHAT! Did he just say he didn't know what he was doing? :o
I'm pretty sure there is a better way to say that, it just didn't sound quite right.
Anyway, sorry I missed you all.

N sound meetup at Pyramid alehouse Thursday after the Seattle Boat show seminar? Ends at 8.
Z
-
Been too long!
Thursday 4-7 6pm Brouwers in Freemont
So far Yak Monkey and myself .... anyone else?
-
Joining your bro-mage to bratwusrt tugs at my heart strings like Stan Clarke on a Fender P-bass, but I promised myself I'd sniper down 3L of Burgundy and watch Ninja Assassin 5 times. You doods sound fun, but the thought of slipping into The Great Nod whilst in the pink recliner, well that sounds perfect even if I have to burp grapes and tune out the sweet sound effects of 50 throwing stars slicing up a Cadillac.
-
I usually spend Thursday nights with my elderly mother. I misssed last Thursday because I was on the east coast. Love the venue. Mother or fishing talk, mother or fishing talk, mother or guilt, .... ?
-
Been too long since I've talked fish and kayaks--see you Thursday around 4.
Rob. ;D
-
Yakker: You'll beat me there. I'm shooting for 6 but if you want to get a head start on the beer list have at it!
Buller, Buller .... Anyone else up for getting together? The summer is right around the corner and Lingcod Season is a few weeks away!
-
I'll be there as soon as I meet up with a few friends who will be joining, but not sure I can be as early as 4, but will try. ;D
-
Great seeing Brian and Rob again and also meeting Bill and Mike. Got to hand it to the young guys who can really put away their brews. :spittake: Fun time for me after a very long haul of health issues between myself and YakChick. Look forward to hooking up on a trip or two with any that may be wanting company. All take care and be safe.
Rich
-
It was a good time. Nice to have a chance to chat 'yak fishin' and get the blood flowing again. Hopefully weather and chores coincide for some good fishin' soon.
-
I chose no guilt, and did some minor home repairs for my mother, we had dinner, then I had a cigar, a beer, watched TV, and went to bed.
-
Ranvensfan is meeting me at Hellbent Brewing in north Seattle next Monday, 6-26-17 at 7:30. Would like to invite anyone else interested, especially new members. No particular
agenda, summers coming, crabbing is opening, Ravensfan is catching more fish than I am.
So, hoping to see some folks, short notice, but it's a start. Trident 13 - John
