Great logo.  Cool font.

Pushing the date back to a more Springer friendly window has definitely put TBKD on my hit list for 2017.  Looking forward to the event.

A question, do you have to launch and land from the one location?  It would be cool if you could launch from any bay location and meet back at the one weigh in location.

Cool salmon logo!  What about the other categories of "non-salmon" and "crab"?   Last year's top winner was all surf perch.

Unfortunately yes , as this is a private event "members and sponsors only" we don't have to pull permits or carry a $1,000,000 binder that would increase entry fee or decrease the how donation.

Yes Barb we will be having all 3 categories again this year but pushing back into springer season a little more June 10th we're hoping there will be more salmonoids weighed in this year.... now for your sake let's check the regulations and make sure the bay isn't "no barbs" for salmon  ;D

None of the categories have changed from last year, but I was on a roll with the new logo and quit after the salmon.  Don't give me no grief, lady!   >:D

Solid work gentlemen!

Now I just need to figure out how to swing that trip since I look to be spending half the month of June in northern Oregon already anyways.

REPOSTING THE RULES FROM: http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=18451.0

The day is picked, and it will be Saturday June 10th with an 8:33 AM low tide so we will have an early morning launch time at 0600.  Mark your calendars and anyone interested in helping out speak up, or PM Mojo Jojo. I would like to get the request letters for donations out ASAP.  More to come, and suggestions are always welcome.

The beneficiary for this event will be...the new HOW NOC chapter. We hope to get the raffle handled as smoothly as in 2016, and we will be rolling with the after-party early again this year so those not staying overnight aren't driving home at midnight.

Registration should stay at $30 this year. We will be having Captain's Bags again this year for the (non-mandatory) Captains' Meeting Friday evening.

RULES

The basic rules are:

  * No power boats nor assistance from one.
  * Sails are allowed.
  * Tandem kayaks are allowed as long as both occupants are registered to compete.
  * Only legal to retain fish will be weighed.
  * ALL ODFW rules apply.
  * You may win only ONE of the three classes for fish.
  * Competitors are responsible for an Oregon fishing license and an invasive species permit.
  * Launch and landing will be at The Old Mill RV Park and Events Center.
  * Pre-registered competitors can launch at first light (1/2 hour before sunrise).
  * Weigh in is at 3:30 PM.  As long as you're off the water by 3:30 we will weigh you in.
  * Competitors must check-out with launch volunteers before hitting the water and check-in again when off the water, even if you're not weighing in.
  * Competitors must stay inside the Bay.  If you cross the bar, you're disqualified.
  * Flags are NOT required, but recommended by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Points are scored for the combined heaviest harvest in 3 categories:
  1. Salmon,
  2. All other fish,
  3. Dungeness crabs.

To clarify the placing and scoring:
  * All of your fish will be weighed in three different categories: salmon, all other fish, and Dungeness crab.
  * The competitor with the most weight in any single category wins first place for that category.
  * We will have three 1st place, three 2nd place, and three 3rd place winners.
  * You can only place in one category.

Required gear as followed:
  1. Proper immersion wear for Oregon waters in June.
  2. All competitors must wear a USCG approved PFD at all times while on the water.
  3. Competitors must have a VHF radio, or must fish with someone who does.

All competitors will receive a number based on what order your registration was received, that number will be your Competitor's Number, and will be how you will check-in and check-out.  Your Competitor's Number may also be the order for passing out the Captains' Meeting goodies.

Title: CAMPING

The Old Mill RV Park & Events Center will be hosting us again this year in the event building.  Camping will be discounted for us, and BE SURE to mention the event when making reservations if you need hookups.  Tent campers should be alright without reservations.  A list of hotels in the area will be updated soon as we know we can get a discount with them.

Prices at the Old Mill will be posted soon.

Were you successful to get a group field rate for open camping at Old Mill for the TBKD event?  Like buy the field for $200 and TBKD participants could buy a "campsite" with their fishing registration for $10 each?  It is only a patch of grass for the "campsites" on that end of the park.
Last year, it was mentioned in advance there would be a camp discount and upon checkin nobody at the front desk was aware of a different rate for the event.

No luck on group rate and since we're under all new management the not knowing what's going on in the office will be a thing of the past. We are on the bulletin board and might be on there website. Just be sure to tell them your here for the event when making reservations or checking in for tent camping. I'll see if I can get the exact prices this coming week and post them up.
