Tasmania Fishing

Squid or Southern Calamari were abundant in coastal weedbeds and easily caught by shore bound anglers. We ate fresh squid on several occasions and also used them heavily for bait when targeting other inshore species.

This was my favorite day of fishing in Tasmania. We backpacked several miles into a remote beach in Freycinet NP and immediately stumbled upon a large school of Australian Salmon. Sidra got a treble hook driven thru her hand but after getting it out proceeded to continue on like a champ. After the salmon school moved on we caught mackeral and the bizarre and acrobatic Australian Snook.
